2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Considered by many experts to be one of the biggest “project” quarterbacks in the 2016 draft class, Paxton Lynch found a nice landing spot in Denver, a city where he can grow and eventually be groomed into a starting quarterback role. Lynch does possess the type of raw physical talent that could make him a starting-level quarterback, but he fell in the draft primarily because so many teams viewed him as a player who wouldn’t be able to contribute to an NFL team right away. With that being the case, it would be extremely surprising to see Lynch step onto the field for the Broncos in Week 1 unless there were a string of injuries to the other quarterbacks on the roster.

That being said, if Lynch continues to develop his mechanics and accuracy while keeping his nose in the playbook, there’s still a possibility that he gets onto the field this season. Lynch isn’t a player to draft in redraft leagues and there are even a few better options at the quarterback position for those in rookie drafts, but the talent is there – keep an ear to the noise coming out of Denver throughout the season.

Paxton Lynch in mix for starting QB job
Broncos leaving options open at QB

Denver Broncos
With a new head coach and a new offensive staff in place in Denver, the Broncos have an opportunity to go in a new direction. According to Mike Klis of KUSA, the Broncos are prepared to give 2016 first-rounder Paxton Lynch a chance to win the starting job this offseason, and want to push him toward that goal. (ProFootballTalk)

FFToday's Take: It makes sense for the new regime as Trevor Siemian proved to be a capable but not outstanding quarterback in 2016. There's been speculation that Tony Romo would like to play in Denver but there's been no indication that the Broncos are interested in the veteran QB.

Siemian to start, Paxton Lynch expected to play
Both QBs to see playing time in season finale

Denver Broncos
Trevor Siemian will start Sunday when the Broncos host the Raiders in their regular season finale. But he and rookie quarterback Paxton Lynch are expected to get playing time. (Denver Post)

FFToday's Take: With the Broncos out of the playoffs, rookie Paxton Lynch will get some playing time in the season finale. Neither quarterback will be viable fantasy play in Week 17.

"Good chance" Paxton Lynch starts finale
Broncos eliminated from playoffs Week 16

Denver Broncos
With the exception of the most recent game at Kansas City - his only clunker of the season - Trevor Siemian earned the Denver Broncos’ No. 1 quarterback job, one of the most exalted positions in all of sports. But first-round draft pick Paxton Lynch has to start this Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. And there’s a good chance he will, even if Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak wasn’t ready to make such a pronouncement Monday, a few hours after returning from his team’s embarrassing Christmas Night performance in Kansas City. (9News)

FFToday's Take: Kubiak can be excused for not making up his mind yet after the Broncos got back to Denver early Monday morning, but it makes too much sense to give their first-rounder another chance to start in what amounts to a meaningless game for them this weekend. With that said, Lynch has struggled mightily in his limited action, so the Oakland Raiders D/ST makes for a solid play in DFS or Week 17 championships.
