2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
While Rawls is fully expected to be the lead dog in the Seattle backfield, one name that has been showing up on fantasy radars is C.J. Prosise. The Seahawks selected him at No. 90 overall in the most recent NFL Draft, opting to take a chance at a skill position player versus the relative safety of upgrading their offensive line. Obviously this bodes well for Prosise’s chances to get some playing time, however, pre-season injuries (hip, hamstring) have stunted his growth.

Recruited as a wide receiver out of high school, Prosise made the switch to running back at Notre Dame where he quickly showed his versatility, rushing for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season as a running back in 2015. Given his abilities as a pass catcher, however, Prosise projects as an ideal complement to Rawls and Michael’s more gritty between-the-tackles style. He should have a good chance to see the field on third downs, which is something that Seattle has been looking for in recent seasons.

A rookie, Prosise certainly has some shortcomings as a pass protector and that could lead to less playing time than some hope for, but if he can make some improvements in that area early in the season, there’s no reason to believe that he couldn’t finish the season as Seattle’s second-leading scorer at the running back position if he’s able to shake the injury bug.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury C.J. Prosise expected to be game-time decision
Rookie RB was able to practice this week
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jan 12, 6:05 pm

Seattle Seahawks
C.J. Prosise (fractured scapula) is "getting back" per (HC Pete) Carroll but will go all the way to game day. Made it through practice this week. (Liz Mathews on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: His return is a big deal for Seattle, which needs all the weapons it can get in a likely shootout in the Divisional Round with the Falcons. Atlanta has struggled against capable receiving backs all season and Prosise is certainly that and then some. If he is cleared for Saturday, don't hesitate investing a few DFS shares into him. If he can't play, expect a heavy does of Thomas Rawls with Marcel Reece getting a bit of work in the passing game.

Injury C.J. Prosise diagnosed with fractured scapula
No surgery needed and no timetable for recovery

Seattle Seahawks HC Carroll said C.J. Prosise has a fractured scapula. No surgery. Just need to wait it out. No estimate on recovery time. Won't know for weeks. (Curtis Crabtree on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Prosise's potential run as the Seahawks' featured back ended almost soon as it began. Thomas Rawls showed very little rust in Week 11 against a good Philadelphia Eagles defense and will now be the Seattle RB who has potential league-winning upside if he can stay healthy and is allowed to touch the ball 20 or more times per week. Alex Collins will likely back up Rawls and can be added as a handcuff.

Seahawks release RB Christine Michael
Thomas Rawls expected to return

FFToday's Take: We knew Thomas Rawls was expected back this week and rookie C.J. Prosise had a nice showing as the feature back in Week 10 but this moves comes as a bit of surprise. Prosise and Rawls are now the backs to own in Seattle. Michael can be claimed off waivers by any team.

Injury Thomas Rawls expected to return Week 11
Will practice this week

Carroll said RB Thomas Rawls is ready to go. Will to practice to play this week. #Seahawks (Liz Mathews on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Rawls suffered a hairline fracture in his fibula in Week 2 but is set to return in Week 11. His role is unclear as the Seahawks got a decent performance from rookie C.J. Prosise against the Patriots. It's possible Rawls could become part of three-man committee with Christine Michael included. Rawls is worth a free agent pickup if he's available in your league.

Injury Christine Michael expected to play
Hamstring injury

Seattle RB Christine Michael, listed as questionable vs Pats due to hamstring, is expected to play. “Should be good,” said source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Seahawks and Patriots play tonight but it sounds like Michael will be active. It's not an ideal spot for Michael given his decreased workload and potential negative game script. It won't be a shock if C.J. Prosise is the better fantasy running back in Week 10.

Bigger role for Prosise
Christine Michael added to injury report
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Nov 12, 2:00 pm

Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks made a late addition to their injury report Friday afternoon, listing running back Christine Michael as questionable with a hamstring injury. Rookie C.J. Prosise has already been taking a bite out of Michael's workload. In the past two games, Prosise has played 47 snaps, compared with 43 for Michael. Given Michael's uncertain status, Prosise figures to see an even bigger role Sunday night against the New England Patriots. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Given the late-week injury for Michael and the likelihood of a negative game script for the Seahawks, Prosise could be on the field for the majority of snaps against New England. The rookie RB will be a Flex option for Week 10.
