2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
The hype surrounding Leonard Fournette in fantasy circles seems to grow by the minute. Few players possess the size, speed and power and the early comparisons to players such as Adrian Peterson and Fred Taylor have created lofty expectations. The success of Ezekiel Elliott last year shows just how valuable an all purpose power back can be in a fantasy landscape riddled with RBBCs. Competition for carries comes in the form of the team's two most recent attempts at finding a lead rusher, Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon. While both players will have a role in the offense, neither will prevent Fournette from ascending to the top of the depth chart sooner rather than later. Not known for his receiving skills, Jacksonville's rookie horse has received passing grades on his hands during OTAs. Forecasting a few receptions into his early projections makes the former LSU Tiger an appealing fantasy running back with rare double-digit touchdown potential. Early drafters may be able to snatch him up in the middle of the second round but his value may climb to late first round status if he performs well in the preseason.

Injury Leonard Fournette not expected to play
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 21, 11:00 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
A surprise: The Jaguars are not expecting to have star RB Leonard Fournette (ankle) vs. Colts, sources say. Sunday, then bye week to rest. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Fournette missed practice all week and it appears the Jags will error on the side of caution and let their star running back sit in Week 7 with a bye looming in Week 8. In his absence expect Chris Ivory to start at running back with T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant also active. Ivory is an easy RB2 with RB1 upside in a matchup against the Colts who have given up the 3rd most fantasy points to RBs.

Injury Fournette misses practice Friday, Questionable
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 20, 2:15 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Jaguars tailback Leonard Fournette missed a third consecutive day of practice Friday with a right ankle injury and is listed as questionable to play Sunday at Indianapolis. Also questionable are receiver Marqise Lee (knee) and free safety Tashaun Gipson (neck). Both did limited practice work on Friday. (Florida Times Union)

FFToday's Take: Fournette injured his ankle last week but has maintained all week that he will play Sunday. We shall see. If Fournette misses, Chris Ivory would likely get the start with T.J. Yeldon filling a backup role.

Injury Fournette, Lee missing practice for Jags
Team hopes to have its rookie tailback available vs. Colts
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Oct 18, 12:41 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Leonard Fournette appears to have escaped serious injury after his leg planted in scary fashion in the Jacksonville Jaguars' loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, but the rookie tailback will likely sit out Wednesday's practice nonetheless. The Jaguars running back, along with receiver Marqise Lee (knee) and center Brandon Linder (illness), are all unlikely to work out, Jacksonville team site writer John Oehser reported. (

FFToday's Take: Leonard Fournette has emerged as a legitimate RB1 in his rookie campaign. IT doesn't appear that the youngster will miss much time but he could be a game-time decision so plan accordingly. Consequently, Chris Ivory is a must own this week with a good chance to see double-digit touches even if Fournette plays. Marqise Lee's status is up in the air with a knee injury. The Jags wideout would be a flex candidate in a favorable matchup so check back later in the week for an update on his condition.

Injury Fournette expected to play Week 7
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Oct 16, 7:44 am

Jacksonville Jaguars
Despite suffering a foot injury Sunday, Jaguars still expect RB Leonard Fournette to play this week vs. the Colts, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Fournette suffered an ankle injury late in Week 6 and by all reports could have gone back in the game but being in hurry-up mode, the Jags elected to have their workhorse remain on the sidelines. It sounds like Fournette escaped a serious injury. He'll likely be limited in practice this week, but for now, appears he'll be ready to go in Week 7.

Injury Jaguars reeling after loss of Allen Robinson
Coach expects other WRs to step up
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 12, 10:35 am

Jacksonville Jaguars
Losing former Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson to a torn ACL was tough for Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone. While the Jaguars have plenty of depth, Robinson is easily the most complete receiver on the roster. Now the Jaguars will have to rely on speedster Marqise Lee and possession receiver Allen Hurns moving forward. "Well, obviously we have confidence in Marqise and Allen to step up," Marrone said. (First Coast News)

FFToday's Take: Both Lee and Hurns make solid waiver wire pickups this week, though we're wary of placing too much faith in Jacksonville QB Blake Bortles. Temper your expectations, and don;t expect anything more than inconsistent WR3 numbers out of either, as this offense appears to be running through rookie RB Leonard Fournette.

Jaguars bench Bortles, Henne to start
Turnovers could spell the end of Bortles' time in Jacksonville
By: Jake Gordon | Wed Aug 23, 7:20 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Chad Henne will start Jacksonville's preseason game against Carolina, a change that could signal the end of Blake Bortles' career with the Jaguars. Coach Doug Marrone made the announcement Wednesday, a day before the exhibition and nearly a week after he created a quarterback competition in Jacksonville for the first time since 2013. Marrone said both quarterbacks will get time with the first-team offense. Henne, a 10-year veteran whose last start came in 2014, outperformed Bortles during training camp and through two preseason games. If Henne plays well against the Panthers, he likely will start the Sept. 10 season opener at Houston. (AP)

FFToday's Take: Jacksonville will lean on an improved offensive line and the trio of Leonard Fournette, Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon to carry the offense while setting up the passing game. Regardless of who starts under center, fantasy owners shouldn't expect Jacksonville to be a high volume passing attack in 2017. Adjust your rankings for Allen Robinson, Marquis Lee and Allen Hurns accordingly.

Injury Leonard Fournette won't play Thursday
Foot injury; still on track for Week 1 vs. Houston
By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 21, 7:50 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars fans will have to wait at least another week to catch Leonard Fournette in game action again. Jaguars HC Doug Marrone announced Monday that the fourth-overall pick will be among the players who won't suit up for Thursday's preseason contest against the Carolina Panthers. Fournette sat out last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a foot injury. Fournette told reporters last week he could have played against the Bucs if it were necessary and said he was confident he'd be ready to roll by the Jags' Sept. 10 season opener against the Houston Texans. (

FFToday's Take: Fournette is almost certain not to play in the preseason finale, so owners will have to base their opinion of him on his college resume and 12 snaps during the exhibition season. At the moment, Jacksonville's offense looks to be an unmitigated disaster, and it will be up to Fournette to make it at least a bit respectable. Volume will be on his side, but he needs to be treated as a high-upside RB2 for fantasy purposes instead of the low-end RB1 he is being drafted as this summer.

Injury Leonard Fournette held out of practice Sunday
Foot injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Aug 13, 12:45 pm

Jacksonville Jaguars
Rookie tailback Leonard Fournette did not practice because of a foot injury. "It’s been something that has been growing,” coach Doug Marrone said. “It’s just one of those nagging things. The other day, it was sore so we said, Hey, let’s not take any chances. Let’s take cautionary measures so it can’t be something worse." (Florida Times Union)

FFToday's Take: Marrone wouldn't commit to Fournette playing in the Jaguars upcoming preseason game on Thursday. It's likely the Jags will be cautions with their rookie running back who is expected to see a significant workload this season. For now, this a situation to watch, by isn't a reason to knock Fournette down your rankings.
