| Bilal Powell cleared from neck injury|
Free agent RB looking for work
By: Mike Krueger | Wed May 8, 9:00 am
|Long-time #Jets RB & now FA Bilal Powell was fully cleared from a neck injury that was once thought to threaten his career, teams were informed in a letter. Powell, who averaged 4.3 yards per rush last year, is healthy & says he’s “really looking forward to getting back to work.” (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Powell played in 7 games last season with the Jets but will need to fin a new home as the Jets have remade their running back group bringing in Le'Veon Bell and Ty Montgomery to go along with Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon. Powell is a reliable pass-catcher and should find a home at some point during training camp likely as a piece in a RBBC.
|Jets add another RB: Ty Montgomery|
Will backup Le'Veon Bell
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Apr 11, 5:00 pm
|Jets are signing former Packers’ RB Ty Montgomery to a one-year deal, per source. Montgomery expected to be the back to Le’Veon Bell. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Montgomery split time with the Packers and Ravens and got lost in the shuffle in Baltimore competing for playing time with Gus Edwards, Kenneth Dixon and Javorius Allen. Montgomery will now fight for touches with Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon behind Le'Veon Bell. Montgomery won't have much fantasy value in 2019 unless Bell misses time.
|Jets part ways with RB Isaiah Crowell|
Owed $2 million on Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Mar 14, 10:00 am
|The other shoe has dropped: The Jets have released Isaiah Crowell. They wipe $3M off of the cap. Stuck with $2M dead charge. It’s Le’Veon Bell’s gig now. #Jets (Rich Cimini on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The writing was on the wall once Le'Veon Bell was signed. $2 million of Crowell's $4 million salary was going to be guaranteed on Friday. This leaves Bell, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon in the Jets backfield. Crowell will likely need to find a job in a committee backfield. Philadelphia maybe?
|Le'Veon Bell takes off with the Jets|
$35 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Mar 12, 11:40 pm
|Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell plans to sign a four-year, $52.5 million contract with the New York Jets, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal includes $35 million guaranteed. Bell sat out the entire 2018 season on the franchise tag. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: The 49ers were also interested in Bell's services but in the end, the Jets offered the most cash. Isaiah Crowell is due $2 million on Friday so it won't be a shock if he's released, leaving Bell, Elijah McGuire and Trenton Cannon in the backfield. Bell should be a workhorse in New York and will still be valued as an RB1 in fantasy but may not come with the same upside given the offensive downgrade from Pittsburgh.
