2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
While he lacks elite size, speed, or athleticism (hence the 4th round pick designation), Williams tape stands out, showing a nifty one-cut runner who churns out tough yards, and has exceptional vision and leg drive. Despite missing three games last season, Williams still eclipsed the 1,300 yard mark to go along with 12 touchdowns. On most NFL offenses he's probably at best a low-upside back-up, but on Green Bay, I think he has some special potential to carve out fantasy value. Much like former Packer James Starks, Williams is a smart, versatile back who can be the main ball carrier if called upon. His lack of elusiveness is made up for the fact he'll never see run blitzes or stacked boxes, and can instead use his instincts and field vision to find small creases and get to the next level of the defense. His size and power should make him a favorite at the goal line as well. With Lacy and Starks the Packers had a versatile 1-2 punch that could whittle down the clock, but make splash plays as well. I think Williams has a chance to contribute to the Pack, as well as your fantasy team this year, and is a fantastic late round flier if you can grab him there.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Davante Adams, Jordy Nelson out for Packers
Williams and Mayes to handle running back duties
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 29, 11:40 am

Green Bay Packers
The Packers will take the field Sunday without wide receivers Davante Adams (concussion) and Jordy Nelson (shoulder), right guard Jahri Evans (knee), running back Aaron Jones (knee), outside linebacker Nick Perry (ankle/shoulder) and tight end Richard Rodgers (shoulder). (Green Bay Press Gazette)

FFToday's Take: Without Adams and Nelson, we can expect Randall Cobb, Geronimo Allison (illness), Michael Clark, Trevor Davis and Jeff Janis to be the active wide receivers for the Packers. Cobb would appear to have the most fantasy value of the bunch. At running back, expect Jamaal Williams to get the majority of snaps with Devante Mays getting some work as well.

Injury Aaron Jones expected to play
Jamaal Williams expected to get most of the work
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 3, 8:10 am

Green Bay Packers
Packers’ RB Aaron Jones, questionable for Sunday due to knee injury, is expected to play, per source, but Jamaal Williams still expected to get most of work vs. Bucs. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Jones in the mix, Williams' fantasy value takes a slight hit but owners can still feel safe starting him based on Shefter's report. Williams feels like a middling RB2 today against Tampa Bay.

Injury Aaron Jones moving "pretty well" in practice
Decision on Week 13 status could come Friday or Saturday
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 30, 8:05 pm

Green Bay Packers
Packers RB coach Ben Sirmans says Aaron Jones (knee) moving pretty well in practice: "I think it's going to come down to a call maybe Friday, or maybe Saturday." (Green Bay Press-Gazette)

FFToday's Take: For now, it should be treated as a good sign for his Week 14 status and nothing more. HC Mike McCarthy seems happy enough with Jamaal Williams at the moment, but it wasn't long ago Jones had a vise-grip hold on early-down work in Green Bay. Jones is a good stash who could pay off handsomely in the fantasy playoffs, but owners would be wise to see him in action before putting him in lineups.

Injury Aaron Jones limited on Thursday
Ty Montgomery misses
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 30, 11:45 am

Green Bay Packers
#Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) did very little in drills media got to watch. Kevin King (shoulder) and Ty Montgomery (ribs) did not work. (Tom Silverstein on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jones' availability for Week 13 is key as without him, Jamaal Williams will see the bulk of the work in the backfield for the Packers. We should get a better handle on Packers running back workload after tomorrow's practice.
