|Kareem Hunt gets 8-game suspension|
Will not appeal
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Mar 15, 10:15 am
|The Browns will be without running back Kareem Hunt for the first eight games of the season, a league source told cleveland.com.
The NFL suspended Hunt for half the season for his incident in the hallway outside his downtown Cleveland apartment in Febuary of 2017 where he was captured on video shoving and kicking a woman. Hunt will accept the suspension and not appeal, the source said. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)|
FFToday's Take: Six to eight games was the prevailing wisdom on Hunt's suspension so this falls in line with expectation. With no appeal we have a grasp on how many games he'll be eligible to in 2019. Hunt's fantasy value is complicated by the fact that the team already has Nick Chubb who is capable of handling and every-down role. Still, Hunt's talent should make him fantasy worthy in the back half of the season. He'll be a late-round pick in leagues with at least 18 roster spots.
|CLE pulls off blockbuster trade for Odell Beckham|
Giants get 1st and 3rd round picks, Jabrill Peppers
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Mar 12, 7:15 pm
|The #Browns have traded for #Giants WR Odell Beckham, sources say. The deal is done. I am not joking. Giants receive a first-round pick in 2019 (No. 17 overall), the Browns' second third-round pick this year and S Jabril Peppers, source tells ESPN. Browns get Odell Beckham Jr. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Whoa. The Browns have been reportedly after Beckham this off-season while the Giants have publicly stated they haven't been actively shopping the star receiver. Baker Mayfield now has a plethora of weapons on offense including Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Beckham, Jarvis Landry and David Njoku. Let the hype begin. The Giants now own the 6th and 17th pick in the first round of the 2019 draft.
|Browns sign Kareem Hunt to one-year deal|
RB remains on commissioner's exempt list
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Feb 11, 2:00 pm
|A man of second chances, the Browns general manager has signed former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt to a one-year deal despite the fact he was captured on video kicking and shoving a woman at a downtown Cleveland hotel in February. Dorsey, who drafted Hunt in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Toledo when Dorsey was GM of the Chiefs, signed him to a one-year deal worth about $1 million, depending on how many games he's suspended for in 2019. He's due to be a restricted free agent after the season. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)|
FFToday's Take: Hunt remains on the commissioner's exempt list for now and will be facing some kind of suspension from the league. Hunt is also under league investigation for two other incidents. This move puts a wet blanket on the fantasy value of running back Nick Chubb who became a RB1 in Cleveland during the back half of 2018 and finished as the RB15 overall. However, the value of Hunt and Chubb will depend largely on the length of Hunt's suspension.
