2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Andre Johnson padded his Hall of Fame credentials with another productive campaign in 2013. His 109 receptions trailed only Pierre Garcon and Antonio Brown for the league lead. His days of being a steadfast fantasy producer are now dependent on Ryan Fitzpatrick's decision making and arm, however. It went over so well with Johnson that he decided to hold out in hopes of forcing a trade. Since then, Johnson has reported and stated his desire to remain a Texan for the rest of his career. In 2013, Houston placed in the top ten of the NFL regular season for both passing attempts and completions – a feat that isn't likely to happen with Fitzpatrick under center. Less targets and yards and a budding player in DeAndre Hopkins will lower Johnson's ceiling. Adding to the negative vibes is a slight hamstring issue popping up early in training camp and his old age – he just turned 33 years old. Did I mention Fitzpatrick is his quarterback? Good. At best, he finds the end zone just enough to be a solid WR2 in most formats, but he likely won't come at that cost due to his name value.

Comment: Now 32 years of age and questions at quarterback make AJ riskier than ever.

Injury DeAndre Hopkins expected to play
Missed practice all week with ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 21, 10:50 am

Houston Texans
After his morning workout, Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins is good to go today, source said. He’s battling an ankle injury, sat out all week. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Hopkins missed practice all week. With Case Keenum under center Hopkins value takes a ding along with Andre Johnson's. On the plus side, the Ravens have given up the 2nd-most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season.

Injury DeAndre Hopkins likely game-time decision

Houston Texans
Bill O' Brien: DeAndre Hopkins definitely day to day. Final decision will be made Sunday morning. (Dale Robertson on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The season can't end fast enough for the Texans, who haven't had the services of their No. 1 overall pick (Jadeveon Clowney) for most of the season, can't keep Arian Foster healthy for much of the time and are on their fourth quarterback. Andre Johnson (concussion) should be back after a one-game absence and see an increase in targets if Hopkins can't go, although it is hard to know whether that is a good thing as Houston will likely start Case Keenum under center.

Injury Andre Johnson (concussion) expected to play Sunday
Texans WR feeling better this week
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 16, 8:42 am

Houston Texans
Andre Johnson will likely return to the starting lineup for the Texans against Baltimore. “I think he feels better today,” head coach Bill O’Brien said Monday. “Looks like we would have Andre Johnson back for Sunday.” On December 7, Johnson suffered a concussion on a helmet-to-helmet hit in Jacksonville. After failing to clear the league’s concussion protocol, Johnson was inactive in Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the Colts. The twelve-year veteran All-Pro receiver is currently four catches from becoming the tenth player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions. If he does so against the Ravens in Week 16, he’ll become the second fastest player to reach the milestone, accomplishing it in his 168th game. (HoustonTexans.com)

FFToday's Take: You'll have to monitor his status leading up to game time, but if he's no longer experiencing symptoms that's a good thing. The problem is that Texans will start either Case Keenum or Thaddeus Lewis at QB, which doesn't bode well for the passing game.

Houston Texans
The Texans are not expected to have the services of WR Andre Johnson (concussion) today against the #Colts, source says. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: As of Saturday night Johnson had not gained medical clearance to return to the field. Expect him to be on the Inactive list. The No.3 receiver, Damaris Johnson, could see an increase in targets.

Injury Andre Johnson remains day-to-day
In concussion protocol

Houston Texans
Wide receiver Andre Johnson and tight end Garrett Graham continue to be day-to-day, Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Wednesday. O’Brien was unable to reveal where Johnson stands in the NFL’s concussion protocol. (Houston Chronicle)

FFToday's Take: Andre Johnson owners probably won't know if the wide receiver will be cleared until Sunday so have backup plans in place. Regardless of whether Johnson is available, DeAndre Hopkins should be used more in the passing game.

Injury Andre Johnson (concussion) listed as day-to-day
Veterans Texans WR could miss Week 15
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 9, 10:25 am

Houston Texans
The longest-tenured Texan may not be available for his team’s biggest game of the season. Veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson suffered a concussion during the Texans’ 27-13 victory at Jacksonville on Sunday. After receiving a helmet-to-helmet blow, Johnson left the field and did not return to action. Texans coach Bill O’Brien said Monday that Johnson will be evaluated as the team prepares for a critical AFC South matchup at Indianapolis. “He has to pass the concussion test to be able to be cleared,” O’Brien said at NRG Stadium. “I would say that’s definitely a day-to-day thing.” (Houston Chronicle)

FFToday's Take: We're not bullish on Johnson's fantasy prospects heading into Week 15. Even if he plays, the Texans are likely to focus on running the ball and targeting the more explosive DeAndre Hopkins in the passing game.

Arian Foster expected to play versus Browns
Groin seems okay, but Alfred Blue still a smart add
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Nov 11, 9:40 am

Houston Texans
The Texans should be in good shape physically when they play at Cleveland on Sunday. Cornerback Johnathan Joseph passed the concussion protocol and will start against the Browns. “He was out there today, and he looked good,” coach Bill O’Brien said after practice. The only player the Texans know they’ll be missing is cornerback Kareem Jackson, who suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his knee against Philadelphia and could miss three games. “The players I mentioned last week are still day-to-day,” O’Brien said. That means running back Arian Foster, inside linebacker Brian Cushing and outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. Foster and Cushing are expected to play. No one has any idea about Clowney, who continues to experience soreness in his knee. (Houston Chronicle)

FFToday's Take: The Texans are dealing with some important defensive injuries and have benched Ryan Fitzpatrick in favor of the strong-armed Ryan Mallett, who makes his first NFL start. It's hard to say how much the Texans will use Foster in Week 11, so Alfred Blue makes an interesting flex option, and both Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins remain must-play WRs in 12-team leagues.

Texans make switch at QB, Mallett to start Week 11
Ryan Fitzpatrick benched
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 5, 11:45 am

Houston Texans
Ryan Mallett is the Texans’ new starting quarterback. Coach Bill O’Brien named Mallett the starter Wednesday, after debating during recent days whether to make a change. The first-year coach acknowledged the decision to bench veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick was "very difficult." (Houston Chronicle)

FFToday's Take: Fitzpatrick will be the backup in Week 11 with Tom Savage operating as the No. 3 quarterback. Fitzpatrick has completed 62 percent of his passes for 1960 yards, 11 TDs and 8 INTs in nine games. The Texans are 4-5 and looking for a spark. For now, consider Mallett a QB2 until he shows consistency with Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

Injury Foster, Johnson active for Texans
RB2 and WR2 ready for Week 5

FFToday's Take: Both Texans stars will start and have decent matchups against the Cowboys.
