2015 Outlook
Depth Chart
Once the premier tight end in all of fantasy, Antonio Gates has stuck around and still remains one of the top players at the position even at age 35. Gates' 821 yards put him seventh in the league at the tight end position, but it was his 12 touchdowns tied for most among tight ends that made him an elite fantasy option once again.

As Philip Rivers' most trusted target, Gates gets plenty of looks in the red zone and there's no reason for that to change. Among all tight ends in league history, only Tony Gonzalez has more touchdowns over the course of his career than Antonio Gates. Look for Gates to close the gap, which is currently 12, and potentially threaten to overtake that record in 2015 if he gets out to a hot start.

While backup Ladarius Green appears to be the potential tight end of the future, Gates is still the man in this passing game and with the Chargers defense still struggling, look for plenty of passing from San Diego again this season. Gates isn't Rob Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham, but there's no reason to think that he can't once again be in the conversation to lead the pack among the second-tier of fantasy tight ends, while costing significantly less than many of the other options at the position.

Gates wants to stay in San Diego
Chargers TEs set to be free agents
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Feb 2, 7:00 am

San Diego Chargers
Antonio Gates spent all 13 years of his NFL career in San Diego. It would be a major upset if there isn't a 14th. The Chargers want Gates back. He wants to retire a Charger, and all indications are he isn't ready for retirement yet. "This is the type of team I would love to finish my career with. To make a long story short, I'd love to finish my career here. I know one thing: we're going to fight despite whatever we're going through. We'll see how it goes." (San Diego Union-Tribune)

FFToday's Take: Gates and Ladarius Green will be unrestricted free agents if they are not re-signed by March 9. Gates was suspended the first four games of 2015 and posted his lowest output since 2003. If's he's back with the Chargers he'll be on the low-end TE1 radar in fantasy drafts this Summer.

Injury Gates listed as probable for Sunday
With nagging knee injury
By: John Canario | Fri Nov 20, 3:30 pm

San Diego Chargers
It looks like the San Diego Chargers will have tight end Antonio Gates and guard Orlando Franklin in the lineup when they face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Both are listed as probable to play this week with knee injuries. (The Score)

FFToday's Take: Gates has been known to play through injuries, so don't expect a sore knee to hinder his performance this week. The aging veteran is still putting up respectable numbers, and is a mid to high TE1 this week against the Chiefs.
