2017 Outlook
Depth Chart
By his own outlandish standards (and those of his fantasy owners), Aaron Rodgers was a major disappointment in 2015. Despite being burned by him consistently during the second half of that year, I thought the return of Jordy Nelson would help return Rodgers to the fantasy quarterback throne in 2016.

Let's be honest, there were a few games to start the 2016 season where it looked like the 2015 malaise, might be a harbinger that Rodgers could be on the downfall. Both he and the Packer offense couldn't find rhythm during a dicey season opener against Jacksonville, and he played terribly in a loss against the Vikings in Week 2. He predictably carved up the Lions, but then two mediocre weeks followed. But a Week 6 victory over the Bears, where Rodgers went for nearly 30 fantasy points was the beginning of a lights out run that saw A-Rod score 30-plus points in six of the final ten regular season games.

While the running game all but disappeared, Rodgers was forced to take his team on his back, and luckily for his fantasy owners, he's still strong enough to do it. He single handedly kept the Packers competitive while their defense was melting, and the running game was held together with street free agents and former wide receivers. The return of Nelson to his Pro-Bowl form, and the long awaited emergence of Davante Adams gave Rodgers big, athletic pass catchers to throw to at all levels of the field. He finished the season with his 4th, 40 total touchdown season, good for the top spot among fantasy quarterbacks.

Rodgers enters his age 33 season, better than ever. He'll add Super Bowl winning Martellus Bennett to the mix at tight end, should have an improved running game, and barring injury, has the fast track to being the top overall at his position once again. I do think they'll be a bit of regression in the yardage and touchdown department, but if you want a shot at one of the surest picks in all of fantasy, take the plunge.

Injury Aaron Rodgers cleared to return
Packers face the Panthers in Week 15
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 12, 10:00 pm

Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers has been medically cleared. The Green Bay Packers quarterback made it official on Tuesday night, on the eve of the first practice in advance of Sunday's game at Carolina. Rodgers made the announcement in an Instagram post after a long day of discussion with medical personnel led by team physician Dr. Pat McKenzie. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Rodgers had surgery on his collarbone on October 19th. The two month recovery time was anticipated putting him on track to play in Week 15. The team hasn't officially said he will start on Sunday but signs are pointing in that direction. Jordy Nelson has been in a fantasy slump since Rodgers was injured. Perhaps he can salvage some value in the last two weeks of the fantasy season.

Injury Aaron Rodgers status still "difficult to predict"
Fantasy owners should be considering other options
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Dec 12, 12:20 pm

Green Bay Packers
A day after Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers underwent the all-important first CT scan to determine how his fractured collarbone is healing, there is still no word on his status. Coach Mike McCarthy called it a medical decision on Monday and said the team is conferring with several experts. "I do not have a clean decision for you," he added. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Fantasy owners may not want to run the risk of rolling out Rodgers just to see him re-injure the collarbone and get pulled. I like risk-taking fantasy moves just as much as the next guy, but this is a situation you'll need to monitor and have a Plan B in place for.

Injury No update yet on Aaron Rodgers' Week 15 status
HC: "This is a medical decision"
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 11, 6:30 pm

Green Bay Packers
More Mike McCarthy on Aaron Rodgers: "In his mind, he's ready to go if you watch him process. But this is a medical decision. Dr. McKenzie is in touch with a number of medical experts." (ESPN - Rob Demovsky)

FFToday's Take: Stay tuned. Rodgers reportedly underwent some exams Monday to see if a potential return is possible. Everything that needed to happen for the Packers over the last few weeks has fallen into place and Rodgers is eligible to return in Week 15, so clearance from the Packers' typically conservative medical staff would seem to be all he needs to return against the Panthers. It would be surprising at this point if Rodgers doesn't play.

Injury Aaron Rodgers to undergo tests after Week 14
Medical clearance won't be an option until next week
By: Doug Orth | Mon Dec 4, 7:50 pm

Green Bay Packers
Mike McCarthy stressed that Aaron Rodgers has not been medical cleared for a full return and won't be this week. "That's why we call it trial return because he's not cut loose for a full practice," McCarthy said. "The medical clearance will be (an option) until next week." (ESPN - Rob Demovsky)

FFToday's Take: Rodgers can't return until Week 15 anyway, so it doesn't make much difference whether he gains clearance this week or next. Given the fact he is throwing the ball without incident now makes it likely he will be cleared, so owners hoping for his Week 15 return have to hope Green Bay can beat winless Cleveland next week so the Packers will be that much more willing to bring him back. He'll obviously be a top-three play if he returns.

Injury Packers lose T Bryan Baluga for season
Torn ACL
By: Jake Gordon | Tue Nov 7, 10:00 pm

Green Bay Packers
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Bryan Bulaga sustained a season-ending knee injury in Monday night's loss to the Detroit Lions, ensuring the Green Bay Packers' preferred offensive line will have played together for less than a full game all year. Bulaga suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, ESPN confirmed on Tuesday. NFL Network was first to report that the 28-year-old, eighth-year veteran tore his ACL. (ESPN.com)

FFToday's Take: Add Bryan Baluga to the list of crippling injuries on the offensive side of the ball for the Packers. Green Bay's offense will continue to sputter as they limp forward without Aaron Rodgers. The loss of one of their best offensive lineman comes at a bad time with the Packers playing on the road against the Bears this week. Continue to downgrade Green Bay's fantasy players for Week 10.

Injury Aaron Rodgers needs shoulder surgery
Broken collarbone; likely done for the season
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 16, 6:15 pm

Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers HC Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will require surgery on his broken collarbone. Rodgers was injured when Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr drove him to the turf as he was rolling out. McCarthy didn't say when he expected Rodgers to be able to return, but said the quarterback would miss a "significant amount of time." He reiterated the team's earlier claim that Rodgers could be out for the remainder of the season. (USA Today)

FFToday's Take: Brett Hundley will lead Green Bay the rest of the way. There's no question expectations must be lowered across the board for all Packers' players, but such would be the case from Rodgers to just about any starting quarterback in the league. Hundley has a skill-set not unlike Jacoby Brissett and could be viable as a matchup-based starter. Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams should be downgraded to WR2s for the time being, while Randall Cobb will be difficult to start.
