2018 Outlook
Depth Chart
It was this time last season when football analysts were raving about how difficult it would be to slow down the New York Giants offense after they acquired veteran wide receiver Brandon Marshall. An injury to Odell Beckham Jr. led to Marshall taking over duties as the team's top wide receiver and it quickly became apparent that he was no longer capable of shouldering that type of workload. Marshall played nearly every passing down for the Giants in the five games prior to spraining his ankle which required surgery and ended his season.

Released by the Giants this offseason even after reportedly volunteering to take a pay cut, Marshall now finds himself in Seattle in what could be the final landing spot of his career. The Seahawks signed him to a one-year, incentive-based contract which they can easily get out from under if they don't see enough for him to warrant a roster spot this season. That does make him a risk for fantasy owners who have been drafting him as a WR5.

There is still potential fantasy production to be had for Marshall, however, if he's fully recovered from his ankle and toe injuries. He's a big-bodied receiver who never had great straight line speed but won with his superior size and strength. He's been among the most efficient players in the league when it comes to red zone target conversion and that's something Seattle is going to be looking for as they lost Jimmy Graham who actually led the entire league in end zone targets in 2017.

Marshall isn't likely to approach 1,000 receiving yards this season but his upside is double-digit touchdowns if he's given the opportunity. Of course, he has to make the team first.

Saints sign WR Brandon Marshall
One-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 12, 11:30 am

New Orleans
The New Orleans Saints went from a three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver to a six-timer Monday when they signed veteran Brandon Marshall to a one-year deal to replace Dez Bryant. Sean Payton confirmed the signing on Monday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Both Marshall and Bryant worked out for the Saints last Tuesday but with Bryant suffering an Achilles injury the Saints are taking a chance on Marshall as their big-bodied receiver. Marshall was released by the Seahawks in late October. He'll be a dart throw for fantasy owners looking for bench depth.

Injury Dez Bryant suffers Achilles injury
Saints fear the worst
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 9, 4:40 pm

New Orleans
Newly signed wide receiver Dez Bryant suffered what the New Orleans Saints fear may be a serious injury at practice Friday, according to an NFL.com report. Per the report, Bryant had to be helped off the practice field Friday (Nov. 9) and is receiving an MRI on what the team is fearing could be a torn Achilles tendon. An ESPN report stated the injury occurred on the final play of practice. (Times Picyanue)

FFToday's Take: Brutal. Bryant had found a good landing spot for his services, but if the MRI confirms the tear, he'll be in danger of missing the early portion of the 2019 season as well. The Saints will likely add another veteran receiver to finish out the season, which could be Brandon Marshall who also worked out for the team last week.

Injury Doug Baldwin unlikely to play in Week 2
Sprained MCL
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Sep 11, 5:30 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday “it would be a pretty big accomplishment” for receiver Doug Baldwin to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears, which means his streak of 89 straight games played dating to the 2012 season will likely come to an end. And the bigger picture is that Carroll doesn’t appear to think Baldwin will be out long.

FFToday's Take: Sprained MCL's are typically a 2-4 week injury for most players so the likelihood of Baldwin missing a couple weeks is high. The team activated WR Keenan Reynolds from the practice squad. Tyler Lockett, Brandon Marshall, Jaron Brown and David Moore are the top four options out wide for Russell Wilson with Lockett and Marshall holding the most fantasy value.

Injury Doug Baldwin has MCL tear
Team still gauging timetable
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 10, 6:45 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin has a Grade 2 partial MCL tear, per source. Team still trying to figure out how much time he will miss. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)

FFToday's Take: Depending on the severity of the injury, a normal recovery timetable for this kind of injury is 3-6 weeks. Given the fact Seattle's bye falls on Week 7, look for the Seahawks to bring him back in Week 8 at Detroit unless he heals at an accelerated rate. In the meantime, Russell Wilson will have to lean on Tyler Lockett and Brandon Marshall. Both receivers should be considered high-upside but low-end WR3s at best while Baldwin is out.
