2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
Last offseason the Jets traded a 5th round pick for Brandon Marshall and were rewarded with a 109-1502-14 season from the veteran. Marshall had arguably the best season of his remarkable career at 31 years of age and helped make Ryan Fitzpatrick a $12 million dollar quarterback. Marshall was simply amazing, using his big body to shield off defenders and gain yards after the catch. He actually dropped 10 pounds coming into training camp this season in an effort to get even quicker. At 6’4”, 225 pounds he should still have little trouble outmuscling smaller cornerbacks.

Marshall lobbied hard for Fitzpatrick’s return and he will once again team up with the Amish Rifle who often locked onto him right from the snap, trusting the veteran to fight off his defender and make the catch. Last season’s 14 touchdowns were a career high and his receptions and yardage totals were only bettered by him in 2012 while he was in Chicago. Marshall has had a difficult past and has worn out his welcome which is why he’s on his fourth team despite being a perennial 100-catch receiver. He’s matured with age however and seems to be on solid ground with the Jets. While some regression is likely, it’s not hard to imagine another top 10 finish as he remains the focal point of the passing offense, while being surrounded by other players that demand attention from the defense.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Brandon Marshall limited Friday
Gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 23, 1:30 pm

New York Jets
Speaking to the media Friday, Todd Bowles says Brandon Marshall is "probably a game-time" decision after limited practice, making it likely he'll play in Kansas City on Sunday. "Hopefully. That's the plan," Marshall said when asked if he'll play. "I have to be smart. It's a long season." Marshall continues to battle a knee and foot injury since being tackled by his facemask in a Week 2 win over the Buffalo Bills. (NY Daily News)

FFToday's Take: Unfortunately for fantasy owners the Jets and Chiefs don't kick off until late Sunday afternoon. Hopefully we'll get a clearer picture on Marshall's status by Sunday morning. Quincy Enunwa would see an increased role if Marshall sits.

Injury Brandon Marshall not ruled out for Sunday
Jets WR feels "stable" and might take on Chiefs
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Sep 20, 10:19 am

New York Jets
Brandon Marshall didn't practice Monday because of the knee injury he suffered in the Jets' win over the Bills on Thursday — one that looked much worse at first glance — but he remains optimistic he'll have a chance to play Sunday when the Jets take on the Chiefs in Kansas City. (New York Daily News)

FFToday's Take: "The school I come from is, don't rule me out until Sunday. I need all the way up until pregame warmup to see if I'm good to go," Marshall said Monday. "Right now, I feel stable. I feel good. And I'm going to work my tail off to get out there and be out there with the guys." This is worth monitoring, but with Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa (ribs) playing well, Marshall may not have to be forced back into action so quickly.

Jets release TE Jace Amaro
Position remains an afterthought
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 3, 12:55 pm

New York Jets
New York has waived cornerback Dee Milliner and tight end Jace Amaro, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source. Amaro was selected in the second round (49th overall) of the 2014 draft and after appearing in 14 games as a rookie (recording 38 receptions for 345 yards and two touchdowns), missed all of 2015 with a torn shoulder labrum. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: The Jets abandoned the TE position last season (8 receptions total) and funneled the majority of their targets to Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. They seem to be heading down the same offensive path this season.

Jets, Fitzpatrick agree on one-year deal
$12 million contract
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Jul 27, 7:19 pm

New York Jets
The New York Jets and quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick ended their five-month contract dispute on Wednesday. The two sides finalized a one-year, $12 million contract on the eve of the team's first training-camp practice, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The deal also includes another $3 million in incentives, which could boost the value to $15 million, a source told Schefter. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The two sides had been at a standoff for months but now that a deal is done, fantasy owners of the Jets' skill position players, specifically Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker, can breathe a sigh of relief. Fitzpatrick is coming off his best season as a pro, finishing as a low-end QB1.
