2016 Outlook
Depth Chart
At this time last year, only the fiercest of football fans could tell you what team Barnidge played for. If you had the foresight to draft or pick Barnidge up before the season, kudos to you, because his elite top-3 finish had to win you something. The eighth- year tight end literally came out of NOWHERE in 2015 to post some eye-popping numbers. His 79-1043-9 line for the season nearly TRIPLED his previous career TOTAL stats. Rarely does a player come along and have the type of season Barnidge had last year, especially at the grizzled age of 30. So what gives? Did the previous coaching regimes fail to recognize the talent of Barnidge? Was 2015 an amalgamation of circumstances never to be repeated? Or does Barnidge possess the talent and opportunity to repeat as top-5 tight end in 2016? This is a tremendously important question going into the fantasy season. Honestly, not much changes for Barnidgeís situation this year. Heís still the No.1 option in the passing game, his quarterback play really canít get worse than it was last year, and despite offseason hernia surgery, he should be healthy for camp. I have to think there will be a statistical regression, simply based on defensive game plan. While he came out white hot to start the year (5 of his 9 touchdowns, and his three 100-yard games came in Weeks 1-7), he slowed up some in the second half of the year as teams recognized his value to the offense. With no receiver commanding double teams, defenses can box Barnidge in with safeties and linebackers, limiting his value between the 20ís. He still has tremendous value in the red zone, and the touchdown potential alone should help him retain mid-tier TE1 value.

Injury Browns TE Gary Barnidge has hernia surgery
Expected to be ready for training camp
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Jun 2, 10:21 am

Cleveland Browns
Amid an offseason where the Browns have added five rookie wide receivers, one of their best pass catching options will miss time due to a sports hernia surgery. Tight end Gary Barnidge will miss the rest of the team's offseason program but should return for the start of training camp, head coach Hue Jackson told reporters on Thursday. (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: With one of the weakest and youngest receiving corps in the league, Barnidge may be the team's most reliable weapon in the passing game this season. Assuming he doesn't have any setbacks he should be fine for training camp and Week 1. Barnidge is mid-level TE1 in redraft leagues.

Browns to lean on running game in 2016
Hue Jackson is a run-first head coach
By: Mike Krueger | Thu May 26, 6:00 am

Cleveland Browns
"We are going to be a run-oriented football team, everything starts with the run game, our offensive line and our backs. As coach told us, we are going to be a physically dominant, running football team." Jackson's offenses his last two seasons in Cincinnati and during the 2010 and 2011 seasons in Oakland were all in the top ten in rushing attempts per game. Jackson broke into the league as a running backs coach in 2001 with Washington. (Cleveland Plain Dealer)

FFToday's Take: It's a no-brainer for the Browns who have limited and inexperienced talent at quarterback and receiver. Fantasy owners wanting to take a chance on Browns players should focus on TE Gary Barnidge and running backs Isaiah Crowell, Duke Johnson and avoid the receiver position.
