|Carlson enters the season coming off a concussion that ended his 2012 campaign after nine games, a miserable stretch of play during in which he caught just eight passes for 43 yards. His 2011 season, his first in Minnesota, came to a conclusion in the preseason when he suffered a torn labrum. It seems a long time ago that Seattle took him early in the second round of the 2008 draft and watched him begin his career with two promising seasons. At this point, Carlson isn't even a lock to make the Vikings roster, given his poor blocking ability and diminishing skills as a receiver.
| Kyle Rudolph to miss a month -- Mon Nov 4 2:05 pm --|
Fractured left foot
|Vikings HC Leslie Frazier said TE Kyle Rudolph has a fractured left foot and will miss the next month. Starting RT Phil Loadholt (concussion) won't practice today. The team's "practice" will be a walkthrough.
Frazier also said today, in his press briefing at Winter Park, that Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback on Thursday night against Washington at the Metrodome. (Minneapolis Star-Tribune)|
FF Today's Take: Given his level of production with the inadequate quarterbacking in Minnesota this season, most owners can probably part ways with Rudolph in redraft leagues. A four-week absence would put his probable return around Week 13 - much too long for teams to hold on to a TE2. John Carlson will likely absorb most of his snaps, but isn't a realistic fantasy option. As for Ponder, the Vikings didn't have much of a choice other than to stick with Ponder on a short week.
