Injury Peyton Hillis placed on IR, concussion
Rashad Jennings to return in Week 11
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Nov 15, 1:00 pm

New York Giants
The Giants injured reserve list keeps getting longer. The latest is veteran running back Peyton Hillis, who suffered a concussion in the first half Sunday in Seattle. Hillis was "not good" and sent home from the Giants facility earlier in the week, according to coach Tom Coughlin. (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: Rashad Jennings will return to the lineup this week and be backed up by rookie Andre Williams. Hillis played a minimal role in the Giants offense, totaling 26 carries, 115 yards; 10 receptions 87 yards.

Injury Rashad Jennings takes scout-team reps
Limited in practice Thursday; recovering from sprained MCL
By: Doug Orth | Thu Nov 6, 4:30 pm

New York Giants
Rashad Jennings was a surprise participant in practice Thursday, warming up with the team and then taking some scout team reps later on. The Giants officially listed him as limited. "Itís getting close," Jennings said. "No setbacks. Felt like myself a little bit. Tomorrow I plan on doing the same thing, and just going from there." Jennings has missed the past three games with a sprained MCL. He was among the league leaders in rushing when he went down. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: HC Tom Coughlin said Jennings "did pretty well", but did not speculate about his status for Sunday. Despite the optimism, the Giants have been cautious all along with Jennings, so it would be a surprise to see him play this week. It seems much more likely the team would give their running back one more week to make sure he is 100 percent, making him a decent bet to be on the field in Week 11 against the Niners. Andre Williams and Peyton Hillis will likely split time in the interim.

Injury Rashad Jennings ruled out Week 9
Will miss third straight week with knee sprain
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 30, 3:15 pm

New York Giants
The New York Giants hoped starting RB Rashad Jennings would be able to return from his knee injury and play Monday night against the Colts. He will not. Giants HC Tom Coughlin said Thursday that there was no chance Jennings would be able to play Monday, leaving the running game once again in the hands of rookie Andre Williams and fading veteran Peyton Hillis. Jennings will miss his third game in a row since spraining his knee in the Week 5 victory against the Falcons. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Williams will get another start against a Colts' middling defense (versus opposing fantasy running backs) that will be looking to rebound from giving up 51 points to the Steelers last weekend. The rookie contributes next to nothing in the passing game and hasn't been overly impressive as a runner thus far, meaning Indianapolis may be a sneaky defensive play against a Giants' offense without Victor Cruz.

Injury Coughlin: Andre Williams ready for bigger role
Jennings injury opens door for rookie RB
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 7, 10:30 am

New York Giants
Giants RB Andre Williams carried the ball 20 times for 65 yards and a score and caught both of his passes despite coming into the league with a reputation as a poor receiver. With running back Rashad Jennings out at least a few weeks with an MCL sprain, Williams will have to take a bulk of the carries and handle a bulk of the blitz pickup duties when Eli Manning drops back to pass. Peyton Hillis is a nice second option, but the Giants sound like a team prepared to ride the hot hand. "I am very confident (in Williams taking a bigger role)," coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. "The other thing that he did that was great was the third-and-7 first down run. A lot of that was on his own outside the flank of our blockers. He was able to pick up that first down. That was really indicative of people trying to tackle the ball and get the ball out, and he made that play. When you have a young guy, you really get into great, great detail even more about pass protection. He has done a good job when he has been in there. He is going to have to do even better." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Williams has been working hard at becoming a complete running back, and with favorable matchups in weeks 6 and 7, he's worth plugging in as an RB2.

Injury Rashad Jennings likely out "a few weeks"
Sprained MCL
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 6, 6:20 pm

New York Giants
New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings won't need surgery to repair his injured left knee, but an MRI on Monday revealed a sprained MCL, and Jennings is expected to miss at least a few weeks with the injury. Rookie Andre Williams will take over in the meantime as the Giants' starting running back, with Peyton Hillis serving as his backup. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The Giants have a Week 8 bye, so it makes some sense that Jennings will sit out the next three games. Williams isn't much of a receiver out of the backfield, but has more than enough ability as a runner to perform at a high-end RB2/low-end RB1 level while Jennings is out. Peyton Hillis might become a bit of a factor on third down as well.
