2014 Outlook
Depth Chart
Eli Manning is coming off of his worst season since the early years of his career when he was still learning how to play the position. He only threw for 18 touchdown passes while accruing an unbelievable 27 interceptions. Manning has never been a great fantasy asset, but his steady production and ability to put together 16-game seasons on a yearly basis has always made him a safe bet to finish as a borderline fantasy QB1. There are many reasons that could have led to such a poor 2013 including a porous offensive line (Manning was sacked a career-high 39 times), an ankle injury suffered during the season and the offensive game plan being stale. The line issues were addressed through free agency and the draft while Manning had offseason surgery to clean up his ankle. Furthermore, former Packer quarterback coach Ben McAdoo replaced the only offensive coordinator that Eli has ever known, Kevin Gilbride. There's hope for the younger Manning to turn things back around, as the Giants will be one of the offenses that will seek to emulate the “fast” up-tempo game-plans now in vogue. McAdoo is also installing a more west-coast style offense that will use short screens and slants, as opposed to Gilbride's vertical-based offense. The offensive line will not have to hold its blocks as long and wide receivers Victor Cruz, Reuben Randle and Odell Beckham are great fits for the new offense. Manning will forever be linked to Philip Rivers due to the draft day trade between New York and San Diego that swapped the duo. Rivers, who also looked to be in a downslide, thrived last season under a new quick hitting/timing based offense and the hope is that Manning will do the same. Manning is a nice target for those that like to wait and use a QBBC approach in redraft leagues.

Injury Coughlin: Andre Williams ready for bigger role
Jennings injury opens door for rookie RB
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 7, 10:30 am

New York Giants
Giants RB Andre Williams carried the ball 20 times for 65 yards and a score and caught both of his passes despite coming into the league with a reputation as a poor receiver. With running back Rashad Jennings out at least a few weeks with an MCL sprain, Williams will have to take a bulk of the carries and handle a bulk of the blitz pickup duties when Eli Manning drops back to pass. Peyton Hillis is a nice second option, but the Giants sound like a team prepared to ride the hot hand. "I am very confident (in Williams taking a bigger role)," coach Tom Coughlin said Monday. "The other thing that he did that was great was the third-and-7 first down run. A lot of that was on his own outside the flank of our blockers. He was able to pick up that first down. That was really indicative of people trying to tackle the ball and get the ball out, and he made that play. When you have a young guy, you really get into great, great detail even more about pass protection. He has done a good job when he has been in there. He is going to have to do even better." (NFL.com)

FFToday's Take: Williams has been working hard at becoming a complete running back, and with favorable matchups in weeks 6 and 7, he's worth plugging in as an RB2.

Coughlin wants Giants offense to move quicker
Mixed results after two preseason games
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Aug 9, 10:30 pm

New York Giants
It has hardly been a secret at Giants training camp practices that they intend to run a faster offense this season. Ben McAdoo's new West Coast-style offense is supposed to run with speed and rhythm. "I think, quite frankly, [the offense] does need to have rhythm. It does have to have more speed to it," Coughlin said. "But we've got more time to work on that." (NJ.com)

FFToday's Take: Through two preseason games the Giants offense has been at best inconsistent. Eli Manning has yet to throw the ball further than 10 yards. Running back Rashad Jennings didn't scamper 73 yards for a touchdown Saturday night but a better showing next week against the Colts would be a welcome sight. It's very possible the Giants key offensive weapons will struggle early in the season until the new McAdoo offense sinks in.
