| I'll save you some time... look elsewhere for a fantasy tight end. The Ravens are in such dire shape at the position that they are currently relying on 36 year-old coming off a season ending Achilles injury. Baltimore has used up all it's good will when they were able to get production out of another veteran (Steve Smith) who was coming off an Achilles injury of his own. The chances lightning strikes twice is minimal, and although Watson had a resurgent season the last time he was healthy, I have to assume that before too long the Ravens add a veteran (Gary Barnidge) to compete at the position.

Ravens need depth at position

|With a need at TE, the Ravens signed former #Giants TE Larry Donnell and waived WR Tim Patrick. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The Ravens have been hit hard at the tight end position this off-season losing Dennis Pitta (hip) and recently Crockett Gillmore (knee) to injury. Donnell offers positional depth behind Ben Watson, Max Williams and Nick Boyle. The starter of this group holds TE2 value but all have giant question marks and can be avoided until a frontrunner emerges.

Crockett Gillmore leaves practice Friday with knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jul 28, 8:00 pm
|The Ravens may have lost yet another tight end.
Baltimore tight end Crockett Gillmore went down attempting to catch a pass and immediately grabbed his knee and had to be taken to the training room. The Ravens haven’t updated his condition since the end of practice, but reporters on the scene indicated that it didn’t look good. (Pro Football Talk)|
FFToday's Take: The Ravens have already lost Dennis Pitta (hip) for the season and Darren Waller will be serving a year-long suspension for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. Ben Watson (Achilles) and Maxx Williams (knee) currently sit atop the depth chart but expect the Ravens to bring another body at the position before camp is over.

Coming off Achilles injury

|TE Ben Watson returned to practice today after working his way back from a torn Achilles. (Ravens on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Watson tore his Achilles late last August and appears to be on schedule for a return this year. That being said, Watson will likely be brought along slowly during minicamp and training camp. Crocket Gillmore and Nick Boyle are also in the mix to assume the tight end targets left by Dennis Pitta.

Ravens TE suffers another hip injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jun 2, 3:30 pm
|Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta reinjured his hip during Friday's organized team activities and is undergoing tests to determine the severity of the injury, the team announced. Friday's OTAs were not open to reporters. According to the team website, Pitta stretched for a catch, fell to the turf and couldn’t put weight on his leg as he tried to get up. (Baltimore Sun)|
FFToday's Take: Pitta inured his hip twice before and missed the entire 2015 season as a result. He led all tight ends in 2016 with 86 receptions. The Ravens have a number of bodies at tight end but most are dealing with injuries including Ben Watson (Achilles)and Maxx Williams (ACL). Free agent Gary Barnidge could be Ozzie Newsome's radar.
