Josh Gordon

Remember me? Josh Gordon makes his 2014 debut this week against a porous Falcons defense.

Grab a Helmet

Josh Gordon @ ATL: If he’s playing, he’s starting, simple as that. You’ve probably been waiting quite some time for Week 12 so you could look like your league’s hero for stashing him for so long. If you’ve been able to stay in the playoff hunt, then you have a huge boon, and it starts this week. Yeah, he’ll be rusty, his timing will be off, and he’ll probably be on a snap count, but he’s an All-Pro talent on a team fighting for their playoff lives and his matchup is a dream (vs Atlanta in a dome). There isn’t much more you need to know. Get Gordon in your lineup and hope the patience pays off.

Roddy White v. CLE: White is quietly climbing back into the fantasy spotlight, as he’s averaged 7 catches for 78 yards and nearly a score a game over the last four weeks. With Joe Haden busy chasing Julio Jones around the Georgia Dome turf, look for White to exploit the short and intermediate areas of the field against the beatable Cleveland secondary. White is coming on at the right time for his fantasy owners and makes for a fantastic WR3 start with WR2 upside.

Kenny Stills v. BAL (MON): With the loss of rookie receiver Brandin Cooks, look for Stills to pick up some of the pass game slack in the coming weeks. His stretch value should start this week at home against a Ravens team that has holes in the secondary. I mentioned earlier in the SCR that I expect a pass heavy game plan for the Saints, and with so much attention directed toward Jimmy Graham, don’t be surprised if Stills is able to pop a deep one on Monday night. This is the type of spot I like to gamble on a WR3 with big upside, especially if I have a WR1 and 2 that can hold down the fort.

Grab Some Pine

Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, John Brown @ SEA: Last year the Arizona passing game was manhandled in two games against the Seahawks. In those games, Carson Palmer combined to throw for only 236 yards, 2 touchdowns and a whopping 6 interceptions. Stanton, despite playing decently last week is a downgrade from Palmer, and with Fitzgerald injured, Floyd inconsistent, and Brown a rookie playing in his first game at Seattle, none of the Cardinal pass catches inspire confidence against what should be a very feisty Seahawks defense.

Eric Decker @ BUF: It will be a balmy 50 degrees by the time this game kicks off Sunday(?) in Buffalo, meaning the cold and snow shouldn’t be much of a factor. Buffalo has been strong on defense this year, and middle of the pack against fantasy wide receivers, giving up the 14th most points. Decker on the other hand has only averaged a little over 6 yards per catch over the last three games, and has yet to surpass 74 yards this year. His WR3 value dried up long ago, and with a tough matchup on the road this week, you can’t risk having Decker in your starting lineup.

Keenan Allen v. STL: Allen’s value comes down to the type of league you are in. He’s bench fodder in standard leagues, as he only has 1 touchdown and 1 game over 74 yards on the season. On the other hand, he still has plenty of PPR value as a WR3 as he is averaging 5.5 catches per game. Either way you slice it, Allen has been a huge disappointment for fantasy owners as he was drafted as a borderline WR1. The arrow is clearly pointing down on this San Diego offense, and Allen was barely usable when Rivers was on fire to start the year. Look for another pedestrian outing from the second-year pro, and at this point of the fantasy season you should have better options than Allen.
