In the two previous games Dalvin Cook has missed this season, Mattison
has a mind boggling 64 touches for 324 total yards and a touchdown.
Do I need to go on? Mattison is guaranteed volume, has a juicy matchup
with the winless Lions, and has the talent to make Cook owners feel
a bit better (that’s assuming you are handcuffed!) Get Mattison
in your lineups as a top-10 option in all formats.
With Darrel Wiliams productive during his multi-week absence, many
assumed this backfield would become a committee nightmare. Surprisingly
CEH returned to his pre-injury volume, (and effectiveness) with
14 touches for 76 yards and a score in a win against the Cowboys.
I’m not sure this offense will return to 2020 levels, but
it’s clear Edwards-Helaire is the back to own in KC, and he’ll
continue to be involved in the weekly gameplan. I don’t know
that he will ever be a workhorse in this scheme, but he’ll
be good enough as a productive RB2.
Swift, the other elite fantasy back on the sideline in his divisional
matchup, gives way to his productive backup Jamaal Williams. I’m
not running out to my league site with Christmas morning excitement
to get any Lions player in my lineup, but considering the injuries
ravaging the position, and the fantasy playoffs looming, Williams
is sure to soak up touches against a beatable defensive front.
With the Seahawks’ season circling the drain they turn to a washed
up Adrian Peterson to cure their woes at running back. That’s all
you need to know about the state of this backfield. The pass offense
is an absolute mess, Alex Collins looks gassed, DeeJay Dallas shouldn’t
be playing meaningful snaps, and it’s safe to wonder if this is
the twilight of Russel Wilson’s Seattle career.
Other than a few productive games mid-season, Drake has been nearly
invisible on this offense. With Jacobs healthy again, and already
approaching career highs in targets and receptions, Drake has no
defined role on this team. Carr is slinging it, and there are only
mere scraps in the backfield so Drake simply can’t be trusted.
It was fun while it lasted, but Damien Harris is the 1A of this
backfield when healthy. Stevenson is the more explosive player,
and would be a league winner if Harris goes down, but banking on
Stevenson to score or explode on limited touches barely makes him
a FLEX consideration. With the 2nd lowest over/under of Week 13,
I’m going to try to avoid players in this game if I can.
