Must Start:
LaMont Jordan
v. CLE: He is my 3rd running back in two leagues and I haven’t
had the guts to put him into my starting lineup yet. This week
I will gather my courage and take the plunge.
Clinton
Portis v. NYG: He has 174 yards and two touchdowns in two
games. He also had 18 touches last week compared to Ladell Betts’
eight. Betts is still a great backup, but that is all he is now
– a backup.
Adrian
Peterson @ KC: Regardless of Chester Taylor’s status, AP will
get enough touches to make him worth starting. The Minnesota passing
game, in a word, sucks, so they will pound the ball against KC.
Cedric Benson v. DAL: Chicago is another team with a struggling
quarterback that will lean heavily on their running game. It seems
like Grossman has been that “struggling QB” ever since
he entered the league…when he has been healthy.
Laurence Maroney v. BUF: This is the week Maroney finally gets
his first touchdown of the season.
Grab A Gatorade:
Thomas Jones v. MIA: He is getting a heavy workload but struggled
mightily to do much against the Ravens last week. With the questions
the Jets have at quarterback, find another option.
Tatum Bell@
PHI: The Detroit offense provides few opportunities for its
running backs. Now Kevin
Jones will get a piece of this very small and unfulfilling
pie. Why bother with this mess?
Marshawn
Lynch @ NE: When Ladainian Tomlinson rushes 18 times against
a defense and gets only 43 yards it is appropriate to call that
defense stifling, suffocating, or very unfriendly. If LT can’t
get anything going against the Patriots, the rookie certainly
isn’t going to have much success.
Jamal Lewis @ OAK: The Raiders are playing with a lot of passion
this year, one of the many things they lacked last year. Don’t
expect the Oakland defense to allow themselves to be humiliated
like the Bengals were last week.
Marion Barber & Julius Jones @ CHI: Job share + Chicago defense
= bench both backs.
