Broncos’ target-leader in Game 1, Jerry Jeudy, suffered a high-ankle
sprain and will miss multiple weeks leaving an opening for Sutton
to exploit. Sutton was a rising star in 2019 (72-1112-6) before
a 2020 season-ending injury after just one game (ACL). He’s back
and should lead the trio of KJ Hamler and Tim Patrick (4-of-4
for 39 yards and a touchdown against the Giants). His next opponent,
Jacksonville, didn’t put up much of a fight in the opener allowing
Tyrod Taylor & Co. 37 points including 291 yards passing and a
pair of scores.
Robinson was probably seeing Jalen Ramsey in his sleep all Sunday
night. Fortunately for Robinson, he faces a much more passing
friendly defense in the Bengals and he should go off in the Bears
home opener. The Bengals allowed 59 fantasy points in their overtime
opener (adjusted to 52.3 without OT) which is just a continuation
from a season ago when they were a mediocre 17th ranked-defense
allowing 36.4 FPts/G to opposing receivers.
With Odell Beckham already declared out, it’s the perfect
opportunity for the speedster to show what he can do. Schwartz
is scary fast and it showed up against the Chiefs in three catches
of a team-high five targets for 69 yards (23.0 average). The Texans
gave up 332 yards and three touchdowns last week to a rookie QB
in his first professional game. A stack with Mayfield might be
highly effective.
One long touchdown reception saved the day for fantasy owners
who started Anderson as he managed 11.7 points on three targets.
But you should be concerned that both D.J. Moore and rookie Terrace
Marshall Jr. saw more than twice as many targets. And Christian
McCaffrey dominated the offensive game plan with 98 yards rushing
and 9-of-9 targets for 89 yards receiving. Then add a Week 2 matchup
with the Saints who dismantled a pretty good Packers offense and
held all their stars in check.
Just as Carson Wentz is on the avoid list, so should every Colts
receiver. You can be excited that Pascal saw the most targets
(5) of any receiver, but you should also be concerned that Wentz
checked down so often that both Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines
saw more targets. Bring Pascal back in Weeks 3 & 4 when he faces
Houston and Dallas if you like, but this is a week to avoid him.
Avoid Michael Pittman Jr. too.
If you have ever seen Bill Belichick’s record against rookie
quarterbacks you would run away from this game screaming loudly.
He’s a stunning 21-6 despite last year allowing Tua Tagovailoa
to become the first rookie QB to beat the Patriots since Geno
Smith accomplished the feat way back in 2013. I think Zach Wilson
will be confused most of the afternoon therefore I can’t
recommend starting any Jets receiver, even if Davis coming off
a very good game against Carolina (5-97-2) and Stephon Gilmore
is absent.
