Penny has yet to produce double-digit fantasy points, but Week 4
is the day he gets the job done. The Lions’ have allowed the most
fantasy points to opposing running backs (30.9) and the most rushing
touchdowns (6). So the scene is set for Penny to finally reach the
end zone and produce a viable fantasy total. After such a great
finish to last season, he’s disappointed fantasy owners in 2022,
but has seen double-digit carries in two of the three games so he
is getting the opportunities. Sunday he cashes in.
Fantasy owners were expecting elite, top-five production from
Austin Ekeler, but haven’t gotten it yet. Three games in
and the back who scored 20 times in 2021, has yet to cross the
goal line. Only 21 receptions have helped make his production
even close to satisfactory. However, the Texans have yielded the
most rushing yards of any team in the league (478).
Singletary may have found his “niche” in the Bills’
offense last weekend. He caught nine of 11 targets for 78 yards
and a score. Since he doesn’t get enough rushing attempts
per game (8, 6 and 9 through three games) this may his way to
help the Bills and fantasy owners. Meanwhile, the Ravens defense
has allowed the third-most receptions by RBs (25) and the fourth-most
yards (162).
The Broncos’ defense ranks No.1 in running back fantasy points allowed
(12.7) so this isn’t the game for Josh Jacobs (10.7 FPts/G) to get
healthy. No back has gotten into the end zone against this defense
and Jacobs has yet to score this season. Look elsewhere for RB help.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is the perfect candidate for regression
and Week 4 is the time. He’s averaged 17.7 FPts/G despite seeing
just 34 touches. That’s an average of 1.56 fantasy points-per-touch.
By contrast, the top-three backs (Saquon Barkley, Nick Chubb and
James Robinson) average .99, .98 and .99 per touch, respectively.
CEH will face a tough Bucs’ run defense which is allowing just
13 FPts/G to opposing backs and zero touchdowns.
The Rams defense averages just 13.6 FPts/G to opposing backs
this season, ranking third behind Denver and Tampa Bay. Wilson
has done a decent job as the replacement for Elijah Mitchell averaging
12.9 FPts/G in his two starts, but this is a bad matchup and quarterback
Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t look good enough in his first start
at Denver to make the Rams’ defense worry about the 49ers’
passing game.
