The BAWM - Week 1
9/27/02

The season is now in full swing. Baseball is winding down and everyone is focused on the football field, at least in terms of Fantasy.

Basketball and hockey are just around the corner, but football is still the talk. At this point in the season, it is time to focus on some of the injuries, especially those of not publicized players like lineman on both offense and defense and defensive backs. While these guys don't get the major headlines, they have a key role in your fantasy player's success or failure. Losses of players such as Vonnie Holiday on defense and Dave Fiore on offense can affect the stats of your layers without you realizing it.

Remember; always play your studs, unless of course injury is a concern. Good luck this week!

Best

QB Aaron Brooks vs. Detroit
He has played against three strong opponents so far and has met the challenge; there is no reason why he shouldn't blow up this week against the Lions.

QB Jay Fiedler vs. Kansas City
Of course Ricky Williams has much to do with the Dolphins success, however Fiedler has been efficient and he faces the worst passing defense in the league.

RB Fred Taylor vs. New York Jets
The Jets give up yards and Taylor gains them, a great scenario for him. If Curtis Martin doesn't play, expect the Jags offense to be on the field even more.

RB Anthony Thomas vs. Buffalo
Last week was the first time the Bears lost when A-Train topped the century mark. He faces the hapless 30th ranked run defense this week, so look for Thomas to run circles.

WR Kevin Johnson vs. Pittsburgh
Unless the Steelers have made a miraculous change to their secondary, look for the Browns to continue attacking it. Since André' Davis has proved to be a scoring threat, KJ should have more room to roam.

WR Oronde Gadsden vs. Kansas City
I didn't want to put Chambers in the article again, besides, did you see this guy's one-handed catch last week?

TE Ernie Conwell vs. Dallas
Will never give you big yardage, but could score against Dallas, as he will serve as Warner's safety valve, especially if Faulk is ineffective with his neck injury.

TE Frank Wycheck vs. Oakland
Was invisible last week against Cleveland, but look for him to be more involved. He has caught a pass in 91 consecutive games.

Average

QB Tim Couch vs. Pittsburgh
Put up big numbers last week in the come from behind victory against Tennessee. He should have another nice outing against this surprisingly mediocre defense.

QB Trent Dilfer vs. Minnesota
Has always had good success against the Vikes and this year should be no different.

RB Michael Pittman vs. Cincinnati
He has yet to neither see the endzone nor have a big game, this is a perfect opportunity to change all of that.

RB Michael Bennett vs. Seattle
Has yet to be impressive in his second year, but scored last week and will have the opportunity to continue that trend against the worst rushing defense in the league.

WR Marty Booker vs. Buffalo
Star on the rise should continue to shine against the Bills who have had troubles stopping everyone.

WR Tim Brown vs. Tennessee
Fresh off the bye week he will look to take advantage of a defense that caved in last week against Cleveland.

TE Mikhael Ricks vs. New Orleans
Even though the teams is at the bottom in terms of offensive stats, this guy still is dependable and look for Harrington to get him more involved.

TE Anthony Becht vs. Jacksonville
Has put up decent numbers and if Martin doesn't play, he will get more involved in the offense.

Worst

QB Brian Griese vs. Baltimore
You never know what to expect on Monday nights and I just have a hunch about this one, let's see.

QB Tom Brady vs. San Diego
Lets see what he can do against a real defense and lets see what they can do against a real offense. Advantage: Chargers.

RB Eddie George vs. Oakland
Says his foot is better, however he has still yet to show that he is completely back. This is not the best place to try and prove it.

RB Corey Dillon vs. Tampa Bay
The quarterback situation is in chaos, but Dillon will have trouble regardless against the tough Bucs.

WR Curtis Conway vs. New England
As the only deep threat on the team, he draws Ty Law as his cover man this week in what should be a great game.

WR David Boston vs. New York Giants
Has lit up his old rival in the past, however the Giants secondary looks surprisingly good this year.

TE Bubba Franks vs. Green Bay
Busted out last week, yet the shocking Panthers look great on both sides of the ball.

TE Tony Gonzalez vs. Miami
Vermeil is looking to get him more involved, yet the Miami defense will key on him and try to keep the ball out of his hands.
