Pitiful. That is the only way to describe my match-ups for the past
week. While I did hit on a few, I was plain awful on most and do
apologize. However, like I always say, this article is aimed at
pointing out the match-ups not necessarily predicting the stats
of the players. Anyway, enough of my crying, I am starting to sound
like Tim Couch. Here are the results of last week's players. Hopefully,
I can bounce back this weekend.
Best
QB Jim Miller vs. Detroit
(DNP)
Due to injury, Chris Chandler started in his place and was less
than spectacular.
QB Drew Brees vs. Oakland
(16/25, 170 yards, 2 TD)
The youngster looked like a veteran as he marched his team down
the field to beat the Raiders in OT. While the yardage wasn't
great, he didn't make any mistakes.
RB Michael Bennett vs. New York Jets
(12 rushes, 56 yards)
While the totals weren't great, 4.7 a carry is nice. Too bad they
were behind all day and he only had 12 carries.
WR Rod Smith vs. Kansas City
(7 catches, 92 yards)
Not bad numbers, but Sharpe was the main beneficiary this week.
WR Lavernues Coles vs. Minnesota
(6 catches, 86 yards, 1 TD)
While I might have had some bad picks, this one was right on the
money.
TE Randy McMichael vs. Buffalo
(3 catches, 35 yards, 1 TD)
He just continues to impress. He has caught a TD pass on alternate
weeks throughout the season, and it will continue this week since
his team is on bye. Start him when they come back.
TE Freddie Jones vs. Dallas
(2 catches, 4 yards)
Not exactly a good pick here. He has been a major disappointment
to his owners.
Average
QB Drew Bledsoe vs. Miami
(15/32, 182 yards, 1 TD)
Didn't make any mistakes, but also didn't have to throw once the
game was under control.
QB Jeff Garcia vs. New Orleans
(23/39, 275 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 3 rushes, 24 yards)
Has made another step in showing that he is one of the better
fantasy QBs in the league. Almost orchestrated a last minute scoring
drive that would have made his numbers even better.
RB Jonathan Wells vs. Cleveland
(13 rushes, 23 yards, 2 catches, 11 yards)
He was given his opportunity and failed to produce in a starting
role. He should get another shot before the season is done.
RB Ahman Green vs. Washington
(24 rushes, 88 yards, 3 TD, 3 catches, 12 yards)
Proving that he is a top five back and is a scoring machine.
WR Az-Zahir Hakim vs. Chicago
(1 catch, 13 yards)
Was invisible in the offense this week, but should bounce back,
however, he should still be considered an average wide out.
WR James McKnight vs. Buffalo
(3 catches, 42 yards)
The good news was that he was the leading receiver, the bad news
he only had 42 yards. Hopefully the bye week will heal this team
a little.
TE John Davis vs. Detroit
(1 catch, 10 yards)
He left the game early with an injury, but should do better when
Miller is back.
TE Eric Johnson vs. New Orleans
(2 catches, 20 yards)
This was another unproductive outing for the Niner's tight end.
Worst
QB Donovan McNabb vs. Tampa Bay
(12/25, 127 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 6 rushes, 4 yards, 1 TD)
While this numbers look awful, fantasy owners to get some decent
points from him.
QB Trent Green vs. Denver
(20/33, 172 yards)
In terms of fantasy, he was shut down completely, unless completions
count in your league.
RB Fred Taylor vs. Baltimore
(25 rushes, 151 yards, 1 TD, 8 catches, 46 yards)
It is nice to see him back producing, and even nicer to see him
still healthy after 7 weeks.
RB Michael Pittman vs. Philadelphia
(12 rushes, 49 yards, 4 rushes, 15 yards)
For those of you who thought his move from Arizona would be good
for his numbers should start thinking again.
WR Joe Horn vs. San Francisco
(8 catches, 109 yards, 2 TD)
The quick emergence of Deuce has made things a lot easier for
Joe.
WR Hines Ward vs. Indianapolis
(5 catches, 76 yards, 2 TD)
Another pick bites the dust. Ward was the guy looked at in the
red zone this week, which goes to show you how tough it is to
pick these things.
TE Marcus Pollard vs. Pittsburgh
(4 catches, 64 yards, 1 TD)
I'm speechless. I should have just stayed away this week.
TE Ernie Conwell vs. Seattle
(3 catches, 38 yards)
Yardage wasn't bad, but this was Marshall's game.
