It's nice when some of the match ups actually play true to form.
Congrats to Emmitt Smith who broke Walter Payton's rushing yardage
total. While I can't hit them all I did pretty well this week and
hopefully I can continue as the important weeks of the season come
around. In just a few weeks it will be time for Fantasy playoffs.
Lets take a look at this week's results.
Best
QB Rich Gannon vs. Kansas City
(35/55, 334, 1 TD, 1 INT, 2 rushes, 16 yards)
This is kind of what you would expect from a top quarterback facing
a horrible pass defense. A bit surprised by the lack of scoring
for the yardage gained.
QB Drew Bledsoe vs. Detroit
(21/36, 302 yards, 1 TD)
Reinforcing why he is one of the top fantasy QBs this year.
RB Emmitt Smith vs. Seattle
(24 rushes, 109 yards, 1 TD)
Is this 1992 or 2002? Regardless, Emmitt really wanted that record.
I think you will start seeing a little more Troy Hambrick now,
even though this was a great performance.
RB Curtis Martin vs. Cleveland
(18 rushes, 65 yards, 4 catches, 39 yards)
With his troubles this season, 100+ total yards is a nice thing
to see.
WR Eric Moulds vs. Detroit
(9 catches, 123 yards)
This goes to show you that it could mean nothing when reports
come out about a player being hampered all week by a back injury.
He looked fine to me.
WR Marty Booker vs. Minnesota
(4 catches, 80 yards, 1 TD)
He seems to be the only bright spot on the team these days.
TE Frank Wycheck vs. Cincinnati
(1 catch, 8 yards)
Though it wasn't much, he did continue his catch streak.
TE Tony Gonzalez vs. Oakland
(6 catches, 57 yards)
Although he didn't score, he was looked upon often as was expected.
Average
QB Trent Green vs. Oakland
(18/30, 208 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT)
Priest Holmes should definitely get a percentage of his salary.
Much of the yardage seen under Green's name in the box score is
due to Holmes' great ability. As long as they are teammates, Green
will stay a productive QB.
QB Steve McNair vs. Cincinnati
(16/27, 215 yards, 3 TD, 6 rushes, 28 yards)
He was efficient and got the ball into the end zone, you couldn't
want more from your quarterback.
RB Travis Henry vs. Detroit
(19 rushes, 64 yards, TD)
Didn't hit the century mark, but I'll take the two scores any
day.
RB Jamel White vs. New York Jets
(14 rushes, 25 yards, 6 catches, 42 yards)
He was much more effective catching the ball this week as he has
been all season. As long as he can add value by catching out of
the backfield, he will continue to see time.
WR Randy Moss vs. Chicago
(9 catches, 119 yards, 1 TD)
He likes to play the Bears, too bad they only play twice a year.
For his owners, hopefully this is a sign of a little breakout.
WR Terrell Owens vs. Arizona
(8 catches, 132 yards, 2 TD)
I think we can officially state that TO is back to elite receiver
status after a shaky few weeks.
TE Shannon Sharpe vs. New England
(2 catches, 19 yards, 1 TD)
Obviously nothing compared to week 7's performance, but getting
in the end zone is always good.
TE Todd Heap vs. Pittsburgh
(6 catches, 51 yards)
It was Blake who became very comfortable throwing to the big guy
this week. He has quickly emerged as a top tight end.
Worst
QB Peyton Manning vs. Washington
(21/32, 214 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT)
His interceptions are piling up which is not a good sign. These
were decent numbers, but he is showing to have problems against
the better defenses.
QB Brian Griese vs. New England
(18/23, 229 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT)
He was very efficient throwing the ball. This is more than was
expected against a tough Patriot defense.
RB Corey Dillon vs. Tennessee
(30 rushes, 138 yards, 1 TD)
Big-time numbers, but the team continues to lose. As a fantasy
owner you should be happy he still plays at such a great level.
Chalk this up as my bad pick of the week.
RB Tiki Barber vs. Philadelphia
(15 rushes, 79 yards, 5 catches, 92 yards)
I am starting to think that the G-Men wouldn't get past mid-field
without this guy.
WR Jimmy Smith vs. Houston
(4 catches, 80 yards, 1 TD)
Looks like his complaining paid off a bit, yet we'd like to see
him put up these numbers on a consistent basis.
WR James Thrash vs. New York Giants
(7 catches, 69 yards)
These are decent numbers considering that McNabb threw for less
than 150 yards.
TE Wesley Walls vs. Tampa Bay
(1 catch, 7 yards)
When your offense only gets 46 yards in the air, you can't expect
much. Looks like the surprising Panthers are back to normal.
TE Anthony Becht vs. Cleveland
(1 catch 4 yards)
No production yet again.
