Looks like I spoke a little too soon with the injuries. Edge and
Taylor are banged up. So much for holding up. Granted we are deep
into the season, but this past weeks picks were finally decent.
For those keeping score at home, my team is 7-2 and heading for
a nice playoff spot for the first time in a while. I never knew
that I would like writing these articles so much more when I am
winning. Lets take a look at this week's results.
Best
QB Peyton Manning vs. Tennessee
(37/50, 327 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT)
I usually don't put numbers in my predictions, but 300+ was a guarantee
against this defense. However he couldn't get his NFL team the W.
QB Jeff Garcia vs. Oakland
(25/36, 282 yards, 2 TD, 10 rushes, 46 yards)
When he and Owens are on, they are arguable the best pair in the
league.
RB LaDainian Tomlinson vs. New York Jets
(12 rushes, 60 yards, 1 TD)
I am officially upgrading the Jets' run defense. They kept him
in check, but he still scores.
RB Stephen Davis vs. Seattle
(DID NOT PLAY)
Although he wasn't in, hopefully you had his back-up Kenny Watson
who piled on 150+ total yards.
WR James Thrash vs. Chicago
(3 catches, 19 yards)
Chalk this up as one of the bad picks. Can't be perfect.
WR Joey Galloway vs. Detroit
(6 catches, 56 yards)
The good news he was the leading receiver, the bad news is that
the team only scored 7 points.
TE Billy Miller vs. Cincinnati
(4 catches, 46 yards)
He continues his impressive campaign and should continue to improve.
He has great size and should be around for years.
TE Bubba Franks vs. Miami
(3 catches, 29 yards)
Once they jumped out to the lead, the Pack didn't to use much
of an aerial attack.
Average
QB Donovan McNabb vs. Chicago
(18/33, 209 yards, 1 INT, 9 rushes, 46 yards, 1 TD)
Solid is exactly how you can define this performance. His running
ability makes him extraordinary.
QB Brad Johnson vs. Minnesota
(24/31, 313 yards, 5 TD)
For those of you who were lucky enough to play him, like me (Brooks
was on bye), call this one an aberration. He didn't throw that
many touchdowns in all of last year's second half.
RB Corey Dillon vs. Houston
(22 rushes, 92 yards)
His numbers would have been even better, had this not been a blow
out. The Bengals went with Brandon Bennett towards the end.
RB Charlie Garner vs. San Francisco
(14 rushes, 52 yards, 1 TD, 3 catches, 16 yards)
What a difference a year makes in terms of getting into the end
zone. They still attempted Zack Crockett on the goal line, but
its nice to see Garner getting in regardless
WR Donald Driver vs. Miami
(3 catches, 60 yards)
This is an average performance, hence the position in this article.
I am sure he is praying Favre is ok.
WR Torry Holt vs. Arizona
(1 catch, 7 yards, 1 TD)
So this was less than impressive, but he did score and that is
all that counts, at least in some leagues..
TE Jeremy Shockey vs. Jacksonville
(2 catches, 24 yards)
Wasn't much of a factor this week but look for a bounce back against
the Vikings.
TE Christian Fauria vs. Buffalo
(2 catches, 8 yards, 1 TD)
Who cares about the yardage when your TE scores.
Worst
QB Daunte Culpepper vs. Tampa Bay
(19/30, 231 yards, 2 INT, 4 rushes, 8 yards)
Decent yardage, but no scores and two picks makes for a forgettable
performance.
QB Steve McNair vs. Indianapolis
(14/19, 82 yards, 1 TD, 6 rushes, 13 yards)
Efficient? Yes. Effective for fantasy football? No.
RB Curtis Martin vs. San Diego
(13 rushes, 37 yards, 1 TD, 5 catches, 34 yards)
Lamont Jordan was the man this week. With the same amount of attempts
he ran for over 100 yards due to a long 61 yard scamper.
RB Anthony Thomas vs. Philadelphia
(16 rushes, 52 yards, 1 TD, 4 catches 52 yards)
His score and receiving yardage makes his performance easier to
stomach, but his rushing yardage continues to be a disappointment.
WR Jimmy Smith vs. New York Giants
(10 catches, 123 yards, 1 TD)
He finally put the team on his shoulders but it wasn't enough
to get the win.
WR Marty Booker vs. Philadelphia
(5 catches, 37 yards)
Teams have realized that he is the man in Chi-town, so he will
have to really fight for numbers.
TE Roland Williams vs. San Francisco
(1 catch, 6 yards)
Not a factor in this battle.
TE Freddie Jones vs. St. Louis
(2 catches, 23 yards)
Only having the ball for only 24 minutes doesn't help his team
or his cause.
