Donte Stallworth vs Carolina
Regardless of what happens in the Giants game, New Orleans
should go all out this week. The Panthers should have their hands
full with McAllister and Brooks in the backfield and Joe Horn
on the opposite side. Jerome Pathon is out and word is the Panthers
will defend Stallworth with undersized Terry Cousin (5'9",
181). With Stallworth's height and athleticism, this could be
a serious mismatch. Though the Saints have stumbled of late, Stallworth
has come on with a big day last week against Cincy - 111 yards
and a TD and is a prime red zone target with 8 TDs so far this
year.
Stallworth Recap:
(4 catches, 60 yds)
Stallworth led the team in receiving but Brooks only threw
for 145 yds as the Saints limped quietly out of the playoff
picture. Even though the Saints wasted a golden opportunity
this year, it's clear they did find a solid number two receiver
for 2003.

Chris Chambers at New England
This could be the game of the week with the AFC East title
up for grabs. Both teams are coming off of disappointing losses
and will be looking to rebound. The Patriots will be looking to
contain Ricky Williams which may mean single coverage for the
Dolphin wideouts. In their first meeting, Chambers was the beneficiary
of the Pats focusing on Williams with 62 yards and a TD back in
early October. Chambers exploded for a long TD last week and is
the prime target in the Dolphins passing game.
Chambers Recap:
(0 catches, 0 yds; 3 rushes, 59 yds)
No, your eyes aren't deceiving you. That is the correct stat
line for Chambers. Amongst the 31 attempts by Ricky Williams,
the Dolphins mixed in their new rushing weapon.... WR Chris
Chambers. Maybe they should have used Chambers in a more conventional
manner... perhaps they might be playing this week instead
watching the playoffs on TV like the rest of us.

Jerry Rice vs Kansas City
The Chiefs are the league's worst in allowing receptions
- they have allowed 396 and the next worst is Detroit which is
way back with 350 allowed. The Chiefs are also last in passing
yards per game. Look for the Raiders' Denver game plan to reemerge.
Crossing routes to Rice will move the chains and keep the Raider
defensive backs off the field.
Rice Recap:
(2 catches, 21 yds)
Whoops again. Who imagined that Rich Gannon would throw for
79 yards? Against the Chiefs, yet! If you put it into percentage
terms, Rice had 25% of the passing yardage. Give Gannon 300
yds, and that's...uh...75 for Rice! Which, now that you look
at it, isn't all that great either.
Obviously the weather didn't help. Charlie Garner running
well didn't either, but that's not all that unusual. Tyrone
Wheatley chipped in 69, but we've seen good days from both
RBs before as well. But Zach Crockett with 72 of his own?
Scandalous. I'd run instead of pass, too. Sorry Galt, this
one turned ugly on you.

Bill Schroeder vs Minnesota
Mike McMahon is auditioning for a spot on another team
and the Vikings pass defense is horrible. Assuming McMahon can
get Schroeder the ball with some accuracy, Schroeder's speed should
allow him to get open and make some big plays. Minnesota has allowed
a league worst 60 receptions of 20+ yards.
Schroeder Recap:
(6 catches, 132 yds, 1 TD)
Now THAT'S a good call. I love these kinds of picks. Who the
hell would pick Bill Schroeder out of a hat for the prime
matchup? I mean, sure he got to face Minnesota at home, but
the Vikings have been playing some excellent ball lately,
particularly on offense but also on the defensive side. And
Mike McMahon is no Joey Harrington---or is he? Eh, maybe not,
but he sure shredded the Vikes, and Schroeder was indeed his
favorite target. He was nearly the entire drive on the sequence
that pulled the Lions even at 14 in the 1st quarter, hauling
in a 46 yarder on the first play of the possession, and capping
it off with a 16 yard score. It wasn't enough, and Schroeder
is still waaay too inconsistent to count on, but full props
for a ballsy pick on this one. Talk about feast or famine
for a set of matchups!

Plaxico Burress vs Baltimore
After a few weeks of looking like the second coming of
Hart Lee Dykes, Mr. Burress turned in a quality performance against
a tough Tampa Bay secondary on Monday Night Football. The Steelers
have their groove back and I expect a stellar performance from
Maddox and Burress this weekend. I can see 120 yards and a TD
for Plaxico this weekend.
Burress Recap:
(3 catches, 52 yds)
As has been the case all season in Pittsburgh, the ball gets
spread around to their many weapons at WR. Burress caught
3 passes for 52 yards and 0 TDs as Ward and Randle El got
the redzone catches this week.

Koren Robinson vs San Diego
As mentioned earlier, I like the way the Seahawks have
been playing during the second half of this season. Hasselbeck
and Robinson have finally started living up to their own hype
and I expect that trend to certainly continue. Robinson should
be able to get deep on the Chargers secondary and exploit their
lack of speed. I have ridden the Koren Robinson pony throughout
the second half and believe he will deliver 110 yards and a TD
into some lucky FF owner's Christmas stocking.
Robinson Recap:
(9 catches, 103 yds, 1 TD)
This just in - Koren Robinson is good. K-Rob capped off a
breakout season with a solid day of 9-103-1. He should be
highly ranked next season on Fantasy WR lists as the Seahawk
offence seems to have found its groove. Seattle put up great
FF numbers in week 17, so hopefully you had some among your
starters.
