Mike Tomlin: James Conner injury more significant than thought. He's out this week with an ankle injury. With James Conner out, rookie Jaylen Samuels should be starting RB this week. Mike Tomlin, running back by committee "is our intention" as we sit there. Tomlin on James Conner: "I don't know if you'd describe it as a high ankle sprain, it's an ankle sprain" (Ed Bouchette on Twitter)
FFToday's Take:Tomlin originally said that Conner had a contusion and the injury wasn't serious. If you watched the tape, it was pretty clear that Conner suffered a sprained ankle. The fact that he's already been ruled out means its somewhat of a significant injury. It appears the Steelers may use a RBBC with Samuels and Stevan Ridley likely to get the bulk of the work against the Raiders.
