Rookie RB lauded for route-running skills

| (David Montgomery's) versatility has been impressive in practice. Because the team has yet to put on pads, though, the Iowa State alum hasn’t been able to showcase the slashing running style that earned him a third-round draft selection.
“We always knew he had great hands. You don’t know how great of a route runner a college back is, but he’s a really good route runner," HC Matt Nagy said. (Chicago Tribune)
FFToday's Take: New OC Mark Helfrich also is a believer, as he told the story of someone comparing Montgomery to Matt Forte after the draft. While there are obvious differences, it's an apt comparison in that both backs may not be special in any one area but are very good at just about every area a running back needs to be. Expect Montgomery's current 4.04 ADP in PPR leagues to shoot up by at least one round by the time drafts really start rolling in August.
