David Montgomery injures ankle
Status uncertain for Week 11
By: Doug Orth | Nov 14 2019, 7:55 pm

David Montgomery “lightly” rolled his ankle on Wednesday, Bears coach Matt Nagy said, but the impact of his injury could be anything but. The rookie running back sat out Thursday, one day after rolling his ankle during the team’s Wednesday practice. “We wanted to keep him out and we’ll just keep an eye on him for here [Thursday] with how things go,” Nagy said. Nagy, who typically puts out an optimistic tone about injuries, was noncommittal when asked whether Montgomery was in danger of missing Sunday night’s game against the Rams. The Bears could turn to receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, who they’ve used as a power back at times this season. (Chicago Sun-Times)

FFToday's Take: Ryan Nall and Tarik Cohen are the only true running backs left on the roster after Mike Davis was waived last weekend. It sounds as if Patterson could be a factor if Montgomery is forced to sit. The Bears play on Sunday night against the Rams, who have been quite stingy against running backs of late. If owners are trying to decide between Montgomery and someone else this week, it may be wise to go with the other option.
