#Panthers QB Cam Newton will be released soon, possibly as soon as today, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. No trade to this point so he will be free. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter) FFToday's Take: The Panthers have been trying to work a trade for Newton but with no takers, release is the only option. The Chargers could be a landing spot for Newton although they've currently thrown their support behind Tyrod Taylor. Newton was bothered by a Lisfranc injury in his left foot limiting him to two games in 2019.
