Julian Edelman expected to retire
Patriots release veteran wide receiver

While Julian Edelman showed up on the NFL transaction wire today as having his contract terminated by the Patriots, the expectation is that it is a technicality as part of a retirement, per @MikeReiss. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Edelman played only six games last season dealing with a knee injury that limited his production. The Patriots have accumulated Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne in free agency to give their wide receiver room some depth.
