Baltimore Ravens

Ravens land Odell Beckham Jr. one day before visit with Jets
$15 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Apr 9 2023, 6:43 pm

The Baltimore Ravens made their boldest move of the offseason by reaching a one-year agreement with three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. on Sunday. The deal is worth up to $18 million and includes $15 million guaranteed, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Baltimore struck a deal a day before Beckham was scheduled to visit the New York Jets. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The last time we saw Beckham on the field was Super Bowl LVI when he tore his ACL for the second time. He'll lead a Baltimore receiving corps that's perennially desperate at the wide receiver position. This year's group will feature Beckham, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor and Devin Duvernay. Should Lamar Jackson wear a Ravens uniform this season (his most likely scenario) then Beckham could have some theoretical WR2 upside if he stays healthy.

Miami Dolphins

Tyreek Hill calling it quits after current contract ends?
Under contract with Miami through 2025
By: Mike Krueger | Apr 6 2023, 11:54 am

Tyreek Hill says he's planning to retire at the end of his current contract with the Miami Dolphins, then it's on to something else. "I'm going for 10 [seasons], man," Hill, who will be 31 years old when his contract runs out after the 2025 season, told Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday. "I'm going to finish out this contract with the Dolphins and then I'm going to call it quits. I want to go into the business side. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: If Hill sticks by his word, the 2025 season will be his last in the league. Obviously a lot of things can change over the next three seasons but this revelation is something for dynasty owners to keep in mind. Hill was a top 5 fantasy receiver in PPR points per game last season and finished second in the league with 1710 receiving yards.

Cincinnati Bengals

Bengals add TE Irv Smith, one-year deal
Has only played in 8 games the last two seasons
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 28 2023, 12:08 am

Bengals add their tight end that they were missing. Irv Smith, a former second-round pick out of Alabama, just finished his fourth season with the Vikings. Adding Smith on a 1-year deal gives the Bengals a vet option + can still draft a young TE early if they want (Kelsey Conway on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Smith has shown flashes of upside during his time in Minnesota but has very rarely been fantasy relevant due to injury, missing the entire 2021 season and playing only 8 games last season. He's never topped more than 365 receiving yards or 36 receptions. With Hayden Hurst moving on to Carolina, Smith will have an opportunity to start with the Bengals but will likely settle into TE2 territory if he's able to play a full season.

Carolina Panthers

D.J. Chark signs with Carolina, one-year deal
Personnel overhaul going on in Carolina
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 24 2023, 12:52 pm

The #Panthers aren’t done adding on offense, agreeing to terms with WR D.J. Chark on a 1-year deal, sources say. A complete remake of the Carolina offense is underway, and Chark will be a big part. As will their new rookie QB. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Another small, one-year deal for a wide receiver. Given the personnel overhaul going on in Carolina, Chark is likely to find himself in the starting lineup opposite Adam Thielen. The Panthers currently hold the No.1 draft pick and are expected to have a rookie quarterback which will make Chark a volatile fantasy asset but he should have some flex appeal in 2023.

Baltimore Ravens

Ravens agree on one-year deal with WR Nelson Agholor
$3.25 million
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 24 2023, 12:30 pm

Former Patriots’ WR Nelson Agholor is signing a one-year, $3.25 million deal that also includes incentives with the Baltimore Ravens, per sources. @Schultz_Report initially reported agreement between the two sides. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Agholor has been a role player in New England finishing as the WR101 and WR89 in PPR leagues the last two seasons. The Ravens run-heavy offensive scheme doesn't provide a lot of fantasy opportunities at the wide receiver position making this a tough landing spot for Agholor. He's off the fantasy radar for now.

Denver Broncos

KJ Hamler undergoes surgery for torn pec
Could be ready for the start of training camp
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 23 2023, 1:02 pm

#Broncos WR KJ Hamler recently underwent surgery after suffering a partially torn pec while training on his own, per sources. The recovery timeline is four to six months, giving Hamler a chance to be ready right around the start of training camp in late July. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Hamler has dealt with numerous injuries (ACL, hip) in his young career that have limited him to just 10 games played the last two seasons. The Broncos have been rumored to be shopping both starting receivers (Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton) but it seems unlikely they would move them. Hamler's deep injury history will have him off the fantasy radar until he proves he can stay on the field.

Cleveland Browns

Jets trade Elijah Moore to Cleveland
Jets also give up 3rd-round pick, Browns get 2nd-round pick
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 22 2023, 3:42 pm

Compensation: Jets are trading Elijah Moore and their 3rd-round pick to the Browns for their 2nd-round pick, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It's possible the Jets could use the newly acquired 2nd round pick from the Browns in an Aaron Rodgers deal. Cleveland has been looking to add a receiver this off-season, kicking the tires on Mecole Hardman among others. They end up with Moore who wasn't a focal point of the Jets offense last season, finishing with a 37-446-1 line in 16 games. He should slot in next to Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones in the Browns three-wide receiver sets.

New York Jets

Jets add WR Mecole Hardman, one-year deal
Chance to make $6.5M
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 22 2023, 2:33 pm

It’s a 1-year deal for the #Jets and Mecole Hardman, with a chance to make $6.5M, source said. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The free agent market is substantially different this season. A lot of one-year deals are being made at the running back and wide receiver position. Hardman is the latest and should give the Jets a nice speed element to their offense after bringing in former Packers' wideout Allen Lazard. Hardman missed half the 2022 season with a groin injury and had surgery on February 21st. He's expected to be catching passes this season from Aaron Rodgers.

Buffalo Bills

Damien Harris reaches agreement with Bills
One-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 20 2023, 7:51 pm

Former Patriots’ RB Damien Harris reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Bills have been searching for an early-down big back to go along with James Cook and Nyheim Hines and found their man in Harris who scored 15 touchdowns in New England back in 2021. The move for Harris was a necessity after Devin Singletary signed with the Texans earlier today. Harris' TD upside will be muted in Buffalo where QB Josh Allen has scored at least 6 rushing touchdowns in each of his five seasons.

Houston Texans

Texans agree with TE Dalton Schultz
One-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 20 2023, 5:22 pm

The #Texans are signing TE Dalton Schultz to a one-year deal worth up to $9 million, per sources. Schultz has 198 catches and 17 TDs over the past three seasons in Dallas. He's still only 26. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Schultz has had some modest success with the Cowboys finishing as the TE11, TE5 and TE16 the last three seasons in PPR leagues. Moving on from Dallas, he'll now find himself with a rookie quarterback and could be a solid target in in Houston depending on other weapons that are acquired via free agency and/or the draft but the lack of a proficient offense could ding his fantasy value.

Carolina Panthers

Panthers pickup veteran WR Adam Thielen
Three-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 19 2023, 7:14 pm

Three-time Pro Bowl WR Adam Thielen announced on Instagram he’s joining the #Panthers. A big veteran addition for whatever young QB is headed to Carolina with the No. 1 pick. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Carolina has a void at receiver after trading D.J. Moore to Chicago for the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Thielen (32 years old) now becomes the most experienced and accomplished receiver for the Panthers. He could easily find himself in a volume role with a rookie QB in 2023 and be a weekly Flex option. Terrace Marshall Jr., Laviska Shenault and Shi Smith round out the depth chart for the moment.

Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys trade for WR Brandin Cooks
Texans receive 5th round pick in 2023 and 6th round pick in 2024
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 19 2023, 10:00 am

Trade terms: 🏈Houston receives: a 5th round pick in 2023 and 6th round pick in 2024. 🏈Dallas receives: WR Brandin Cooks. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: This will mark the fourth time the Brandin Cooks has been traded. His new landing spot in Dallas puts him behind CeeDee Lamb in the pecking order, but he does have a good chance to land the No.2 receiving role, especially if TE Dalton Schultz isn't re-signed. Still just 29 years old, Cooks had 1000-yard seasons in 2020 and 2021 but may struggle to reach that mark in 2023 if Lamb stays healthy.

New England Patriots

Patriots agree with TE Mike Gesicki on one-year deal
New England replaces Jonnu with Gesicki
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 17 2023, 8:02 am

The New England Patriots have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent tight end Mike Gesicki that is worth up to $9 million, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Field Yates. Gesicki will pair with veteran Hunter Henry to give the Patriots a tight end duo the team hoped it was getting when it signed Henry and Jonnu Smith to big-money deals in free agency in 2021. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: New England traded Jonnu Smith to the Falcons a few days ago for a 7th round pick and replace him with Gesicki (32-362-5) who was barely used in Miami last season. He's a decent redzone option, if New England chooses to use him in that capacity, but is going to struggle being a reliable TE1 playing alongside Hunter Henry.

New York Giants

Giants add WR Parris Campbell, one-year deal
Giants add another weapon for Daniel Jones
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 16 2023, 12:52 pm

Breaking: FA WR Parris Campbell is signing with the #Giants, source tells @theScore. The former Buckeye star comes off a career-best 62/623/3 with the #Colts last season. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants released Kenny Golladay yesterday and need to upgrade their pass-catching options for Daniel Jones. Campbell and tight end Darren Waller are a good start. Heading into his fifth season, Campbell is still just 25 years old and profiles as a solid WR2 for the Giants. He had modest success last season (63-623-3) finishing as the WR64 in PPR leagues. He'll likely be a late-round draft target depending on other receivers the Giants add (or don't add) in free agency.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina agrees with RB Miles Sanders, 4-year deal
D'Onta Foreman remains a free agent
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 15 2023, 8:20 pm

Running back Miles Sanders signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, the team announced Wednesday evening, effectively ending his tenure with the Eagles. By signing with Carolina, Sanders reunites with former Eagles and current Panthers running backs coach Duce Staley. (Philadelphia Inquirer)

FFToday's Take: A year after scoring zero touchdowns, Sanders posted his best season as pro, scoring 11 times in 2022 and rushing for 1269 yards in a prolific Eagles' offense. Sanders should be the lead back for Carolina but his upside will hinge on what complement RB Carolina decides to bring in D'Onta Foreman (UFA) could be back at the right price. Chuba Hubbard remains on the roster but will likely be the No.3 option once training camp kicks off this Summer.

New Orleans

Jamaal Williams lands with the Saints
3 years, $8 million fully guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 15 2023, 7:13 pm

Jamaal Williams’ deal with the Saints is for three years, $12 million, including $8 million fully guaranteed. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Williams has been in the league since 2017 but is coming off his best season as a pro in 2022, finishing with a 262-1066-17; 12-73-0 line. His 17 TDs led all running backs. Williams is essentially a younger replacement of Mark Ingram and he could have a bigger role depending on the disciplinary outcome in Alvin Kamara's off-field issue.

New England Patriots

Patriots agree on three-year deal with JuJu Smith-Schuster
$22.5 million earned over the first two years
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 15 2023, 3:00 pm

Breaking: FA WR JuJu Smith-Schuster is signing with the #Patriots, sources tell @theScore Only 26 years old, the 2018 Pro Bowler comes off a strong season for the #Chiefs, with 78/933/3. 3 years and $33M for JuJu Smith-Schuster to the #Patriots, per source. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Patriots lost Jakobi Meyers to the Raiders but sign a similar player to a similar deal. JuJu posted a 78-933-3 line last season with the Chiefs while Meyers finished with a 67-804-6 line in New England. JuJu will move to the top of the receiving depth chart in New England while this move leaves the Chiefs a little thin at receiver which should be addressed in free agency or possibly the draft.

Carolina Panthers

Carolina expected to sign TE Hayden Hurst
Three-year deal
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 15 2023, 9:44 am

#Panthers signing TE Hayden Hurst to a three-year deal, source confirms. Former first-round pick gives Carolina a starter at tight end. Team still might look through draft. ( @Rapsheet 1st) (Jeremy Fowler on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Carolina is searching for offensive weapons after losing WR D.J. Moore in a trade with the Bears for the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. Hurst should slide right into a starting role and be a mid-range TE2 even if Carolina picks up a tight end in the draft. Tommy Tremble and Ian Thomas are still on the roster.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas set to release Ezekiel Elliott
Dallas will designate him a post-June 1st cut
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 15 2023, 9:31 am

The Ezekiel Elliott era appears to be over in Dallas. Per a source close to the situation, the Cowboys are set to part ways with the two-time NFL rushing champ and the running back is preparing to start fresh with a new team. The move could come as soon as Wednesday afternoon when the league’s 2023 calendar officially begins at 3 p.m. and teams are required to be under the salary cap. (Dallas Star-Telegram)

FFToday's Take: The Cowboys could save close to $11 million against the cap if designate him a post-June 1st cut. Elliott's yards per carry plummeted to 3.8 last season as he dealt with a right knee injury but he kept his fantasy value afloat by scoring 12 rushing TDs. Tony Pollard would be the main running back for Dallas next season in this scenario but expect the Cowboys to bring in a complement. Zeke will be 28 in July.

Detroit Lions

David Montgomery agrees on 3-year deal with Detroit
Montgomery staying in NFC North
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 9:32 pm

Lions and former Bears’ RB David Montgomery reached agreement on a three-year, $18 million, including $11 million guaranteed, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Montgomery moves from Chicago to Detroit staying in the NFC and will now get to face the Bears twice during the season. This seals the deal that Jamaal Williams will not be back and Montgomery can easily slide into his role of pissing off D'Andre Swift owners. The Lions have also brought back Craig Reynolds who will operate as the No.3 running back.

New York Jets

Allen Lazard signing four-year deal with the Jets
Rodgers not far behind?
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 4:18 pm

BREAKING: #Jets are signing FA WR Allen Lazard to a 4-year, $44M deal with $22M guaranteed, sources tell @thescore. Lazard comes off his best season, totaling 60/788/6 in 15 games with #Packers. This deal should also get things to the finish line with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets. (Jordan Schultz on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Rodgers reportedly sent a free agent wish list to the Jets that included Lazard, Randall Cobb, Marcedes Lewis and Odell Beckham Jr. With Lazard in the mix, it seems like only a matter of time before Rodgers is announced to the Jets. Lazard is coming off his best season as a pro (60-788-6) but would have a hard time duplicating those numbers opposite Garrett Wilson in New York.

Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles agree to terms with RB Rashaad Penny
Played only 18 games the last three seasons
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 3:12 pm

Source: The #Eagles have agreed to terms with #Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Penny is a tantalizing player who's averaged 6.2 yards per carry the last two seasons. Problem is, he has trouble staying on the field, playing only 18 games the last three seasons. He suffered a torn ACL in 2019 and broke his leg in 2022. He'll be the most talented running in the Eagles backfield but will come with huge risk in fantasy leagues. Seattle will be searching for a backup to Kenneth Walker

Las Vegas Raiders

Giants trade third-round pick for TE Darren Waller
Raiders eyeing TE in upcoming draft?
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 2:30 pm

So the #Giants traded a third-round compensatory pick that they received in the Kadarius Toney trade (No. 100 overall) and land the big-time weapon they coveted for newly extended QB Daniel Jones: It's Darren Waller. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Waller has missed 14 games over the last two seasons and will be 31 years old in September. The Giants are in desperate need of playmakers on offense and Waller can help in that regard when healthy. The upcoming draft has an abundance of pass-catching tight ends if the Raiders are looking to get younger at the position.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bucs and Baker Mayfield agree on one-year deal
Will compete with Kyle Trask for starting QB job
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 11:48 am

The #Bucs are finalizing a deal with former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield, per sources. Mayfield finished his fifth NFL season strong after landing with the #Rams. Now he gets a chance to take over for Tom Brady in Tampa, and is still only 27. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Mayfield is singing on a one-year, $8.5 million deal which indicates he'll be competing with Kyle Trask for the starting QB job in 2023. He's made numerous stops over the last year including CLE, CAR, LAR and now TB. The Bucs are in rebuilding mold but do have their starting wide receivers back: Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Russell Gage. We're looking at mid-range QB2 value at the high end for the eventual starting Bucs quarterback.

Miami Dolphins

Raheem Mostert sticking with Miami, 2-year deal
Miami keeps familiar face
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 11:08 am

Dolphins and RB Raheem Mostert reached agreement today on a two-year deal, per his agent @TesslerSports. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Mostert and Jeff Wilson are both free agents so Miami was in need of a free agent running back. With Salvon Ahmed already re-signed, they elect to keep Mostert and could still bring back Wilson given he won't break the bank. Mostert played 16 games last season, averaging 4.9 yards per carry.

Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders, Jakobi Meyers agree on three-year deal
$21 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 14 2023, 10:00 am

Former Patriots WR Jakobi Meyers and the Raiders reached agreement on a 3-year, 33 million deal that includes $21 million guaranteed, as @RapSheet reported. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: After being shutout on the first day of the negotiating period, we finally got a wide receiver to sign. Given the weak WR class, Meyers was near the top of the heap, coming off back-to-back 800-yard receiving seasons. He'll play second fiddle to Davante Adams in Las Vegas and will compete with tight end Darren Waller for targets. Hard to see Meyers making a big fantasy splash with Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback.

Las Vegas Raiders

Raiders expected to sign QB Jimmy Garoppolo
Three-year deal, $34 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 13 2023, 1:52 pm

Comp update: Raiders are giving former 49ers’ QB Jimmy Garoppolo a three-year, $67.5 million deal, including $34 million guaranteed, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The $34 million guaranteed is an indication that the Raiders can still be in the rookie quarterback market in the upcoming draft where they currently have the 7th pick. Garoppolo will give the Raiders a veteran presence at the position in 2023. His fantasy outlook will remain in the QB2 range unless Josh McDaniels decides to open up passing offense.

Atlanta Falcons

Patriots trade TE Jonnu Smith to the Falcons
New England receives a 7th-round pick
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 13 2023, 11:16 am

Sources: The #Patriots are trading TE Jonnu Smith to the #Falcons, as a former big-ticket free agent heads elsewhere and creates space for New England. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Patriots are getting a 7th-round pick in return. As any Kyle Pitts owner would tell you, the Falcons made little use of their tight ends last season. The position caught 62 passes for 695 yards in Atlanta, about half the yardage amassed by Travis Kelce. Atlanta is still trying to figure out the quarterback position and Jonnu isn't likely to be a fantasy option unless Pitts missing significant time.

Houston Texans

Texans sign veteran WR Robert Woods
2-year, $10M guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 10 2023, 8:22 pm

Sources: Former #Titans and #Rams WR Robert Woods is signing with the #Texans, adding a veteran presence to a young team. He gets a 2-year, $15.25M deal with $10M fully guarantee and a max value of $17M. A new QB’s best friend. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Brandin Cooks has stated he wants out of Houston so this move for Woods would fill the veteran presence role. Woods will turn 31 next month and likely isn't going to have much fantasy value on a team with a rookie quarterback (Texans have the No.2 pick).

Chicgao Bears

Bears trade No.1 overall pick to CAR for D.J. Moore, picks
Panthers move up from No.9 to No.1
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 10 2023, 5:28 pm

Compensation update, per sources: Bears trading No. 1 overall pick to Carolina for: pick No. 9, pick No. 61, a first-round pick in 2024, a second-round pick in 2025 and WR D.J. Moore (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Whoa. The Bears were in a great spot either trade their No.1 overall pick or trade Justin Fields if they felt the QB options in the draft were superior. They elected to trade with Carolina, get a No.1 wide return add a first round pick next season and two second-round picks. The Panthers now have their choice of any rookie quarterback. C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis are the likely candidates for Carolina.

Minnesota Vikings

Vikings release WR Adam Thielen
Spent nine seasons with the Vikings
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 10 2023, 9:48 am

The #Vikings are releasing two-time Pro Bowl WR Adam Thielen today, per sources. A onetime undrafted free agent from Minnesota State who went on to catch 55 touchdown passes for his hometown team, Thielen has plenty left in the tank at age 32 and wants to land with a contender. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Thielen has spent nine seasons with the Vikings with the last two playing second fiddle to Justin Jefferson. By the end of last season, Thielen was becoming the fourth option in the passing game behind TE T.J. Hockenson and K.J. Osbourn. It's plausible Thielen can find more targets with another team but his fantasy value is likely capped at a low-end WR2 given his age (32).

New York Jets

Cardinals say goodbye to WR Robbie Anderson
Turns 30 in May
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 8 2023, 4:14 pm

Former Jets WR Chosen Robbie Anderson has been released by the #Cardinals, the team announced. Turns 30 in May, coming off two down years. A 1,000-yard receiver in '20, the year after he left the #Jets. (Rich Cimini on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Arizona gave up a sixth-round and seventh-round draft picks to Carolina for Anderson but he never made the impact anticipated. He has changed to his name twice in the last two years and will now be looking for his fourth team in his NFL career. He posted a 20-282-1 line last season in twelve games.

New York Giants

Giants sign Daniel Jones, tag Saquon Barkely
$10.1M franchise tag for Barkley
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 7 2023, 4:29 pm

So Daniel Jones is on the books for four years and $160 million with $82 million guaranteed at signing, per sources. There is another $35M available in incentives. Saquon Barkley is currently at $10.1M on the franchise tag. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The $82 million guaranteed for Jones comes in the first two seasons. Not bad for a quarterback that threw for 3205 yards, 15 TDs and rushed for 7 TDs in 2022 - his best season as a pro. His QB13 fantasy ranking was made possible by his rushing usage (708 yds) but it's hard to see Jones vaulting into a mid-level QB1 given his limited skill set. We've likely seen his ceiling as a fantasy QB.

Baltimore Ravens

Ravens place non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar Jackson
Ravens can match offer or receive two first-round picks
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 7 2023, 3:04 pm

Ravens sent notice to the NFLPA that they placed the $32.41 million non-exclusive franchise tag on QB Lamar Jackson. He now is allowed to negotiate with other teams, but Ravens have right to match any offer sheet he signs or take two first-round picks in return for him. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The two sides have been negotiating for almost two years and still haven't found a resolution. The Ravens are still hopeful of working out a long-term deal but unless one side has a change of heart, we could see Lamar in a different uniform in 2023. For their part, the Falcons (who have a ton of cap room) have stated they're not going to pursue Jackson.

Seattle Seahawks

Seahawks keep Geno Smith on new three-year deal
Comeback Player of the Year award in 2022
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 6 2023, 6:02 pm

The #Seahawks and Pro Bowl QB Geno Smith are finalizing a new multi-year contract, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Smith, 32, would’ve become a free agent. Instead, he’ll stay in Seattle, where he won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year last season. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Smith parlayed his Comeback Player of the Year award into $40 million guaranteed. Not bad for the 32 year-old journeyman quarterback who last had a steady starting gig back in 2014 with the Jets. Geno was one of only four quarterbacks to throw for at least 30 TDs in 2022 and should be a mid-round selection in fantasy drafts this Summer.

Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys place franchise tag on Tony Pollard
$10.09 million
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 6 2023, 12:07 pm

Cowboys now have placed their franchise tag on RB Tony Pollard, per source. RB franchise tag is $10.09 million. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Pollard was set to be a free agent but will be sticking in Dallas at least for the 2023 season if a longer term can't be worked out before mid-July. Pollard was Dallas' best running back last season (193-1007-9; 39-371-3) and for his career is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Pollard finished as the RB10 last season despite splitting time with Ezekiel Elliott (RB23). The Cowboys are looking to retain Zeke but it will likely at a reduced cost.

New Orleans

Derek Carr settles on the Saints: 4-year deal
Upgrade at quarterback coming to New Orleans
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 6 2023, 10:30 am

The #Saints are giving their new QB Derek Carr a 4-year deal, source said. With a big QB number coming, they'll make it work with their cap situation. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The first big QB domino of the off-season has fallen. The Saints have been messing around with Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, Trevor Siemian and Taysom Hill the last couple seasons at quarterback. Carr represents an upgrade but isn't an elite option at the position. His presence should stabilize the offense as a whole and allow Chris Olave to flourish as an easy WR2. Michael Thomas' status with the team remains unclear given his injury history and contract/cap situation.

Los Angeles Rams

Rams give Allen Robinson permission to seek trade
Veteran wideout will be on the move
By: Mike Krueger | Mar 6 2023, 7:00 am

The #Rams have given WR Allen Robinson’s agents permission to seek a trade, and L.A. is willing to pay a portion of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary to facilitate a deal, per sources. Robinson is still only 29. Another big-name veteran potentially leaving L.A. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Robinson had a dismal year with Rams and never got a foothold in the offense, even when Cooper Kupp was lost midway through the season. His 33-339-3 in only ten games was a major disappointment given he was being drafted as a WR2/3. Given this a weak free agent wide receiver class, Robinson should have a healthy market for his services.

Las Vegas Raiders

The #Raiders plan to place the franchise tag on star RB Josh Jacobs if the sides don’t reach a deal by Tuesday’s deadline, per sources. The NFL’s leading rusher last season, Jacobs is viewed as a part of the future in Las Vegas. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jacobs led the league in rushing yards (1653) last season and finished as the RB3 in PPR leagues behind Christian McCaffrey and Austin Ekeler. His 340 carries were second only to Derrick Henry (349). He turned out to be a league-winner after being drafted around pick 50 as the RB21. Coming off his best season as a pro, Jacobs is just 25 years old and should be priced as a low-end RB1 heading into 2023.

FFToday's Take: Engram set career highs in catches (73) and yardage (766) with the Jaguars last season on his way to finishing as the TE8 in PPR leagues, well ahead of his TE23 pre-season average draft position. He's a good fit for Doug Pederson's short-passing scheme and should see his value rise to the low-end TE1 range in time for redraft leagues this summer.
