Outlook: Financial debates aside, Goff's recent extension means he will remain the captain of the Detroit Lions for the foreseeable future. Even if his stats or play on the field don't pop off the page, his command of the offense, cool demeanor, and SoCal smile has endeared him to the blue-collar blood of Detroit. In leading the Lions to an absolutely magical playoff run last year, Goff had one of the best statistical seasons of his career. Feeding off a creative play-action based scheme, and balanced attack, Goff finished 2nd in the NFL in completions and yardage.
By some miracle, offensive coordinator Ben Johnson returns, as do a large percentage of the starting offense. Continuity is a huge advantage in the NFL, as the offense can evolve, especially as young keystone players like Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Sam LaPorta continue to develop. With a top-5 offensive line and a versatile set of skill position players, there is no reason Goff can't continue to hover around the top-10 as he's done now in two consecutive years. A tougher schedule, a shallow receiver depth chart, and zero rushing upside will leave little room for Goff to grow his fantasy numbers, but he remains an ideal target for owners who wait to draft their starter, or as an insurance back-up to pair with a risky upside starter (Richardson, a rookie).

Outlook: I'm trying to imagine what it would have been like if my starter home was a fully furnished four-bedroom with a cute back-yard, because that's the situation Caleb Williams finds himself with the Bears. I'm not just talking about the tens of millions he'll get this year, but the smorgasbord of weapons he'll have at his disposal this season. I can't think of a better supporting cast situation for a No.1 pick in recent memory. With Moore, Allen, Kmet, and electric rookie Odunze to throw to, Williams' situation probably has Justin Fields looking like the shrugging shoulders emoji. Williams was electric in college, making off-schedule plays look routine, as he carried both Oklahoma and Southern Cal. At times the pressure of matching teams point for point caused Williams to develop some poor habits, but he never was careless with the football, as he had an other-worldly 94-14 touchdown to interception ratio in college. With a top-10 defense to rely on, Williams won't have to play hero ball. If he can simply work within the confines of the offense, get decent protection, and get the ball to his playmakers on schedule, he could knock on the door of the top-10 in his rookie season, much like C.J. Stroud did last year. With the ability to make plays with his legs, and the ability to handle the pressure of being the best player in college football the last several years, Williams has the mental and physical make-up to be a fantasy asset from Day 1.
