Americans are angry. We are hurt and distraught over a vicious and
cunning snake. We demand revenge.
Sit with me a moment and think about the proper responses that you
and I can do. Direct physical retaliation is beyond our ability
no matter how much we want to strike back in our hearts. Fantasies
of revenge float just on the edge of wakeful consciousness and flair
into full-blooded dreams in our sleep. All these mental gyrations
do is raise our level of tension and blind us to the little things
that make a difference.
The foul haters of America sit in their filthy hovels jealous of
the power and wealth of a mighty nation. Did we come by this wealth
as a lucky lotto player lands in the lap of Fortuna? No, rightly
or wrongly we attained our place with hard work and hard knocks.
Deal with it. This bin Laden (hopefully soon to be deceased) hates
America while being rich himself so the image of striking the World
Trade Center is mystifying. I understand in some manner the strikes
against the Pentagon and targeting the President. But, why the Twin
Towers?
American is the economic engine that consumes the world's goods.
A strike against the American economy is a blow against the entire
Western economy. If Americans become fearful to travel, attend games,
purchase goods and party with friends, the whole western world will
hit such a depression, it will cripple our ability to influence
and or dominate foreign affairs. That is a major goal of these vipers.
To get the US to retrench and withdraw. To harm the Western Civilization
and allow a blossoming of fundamentalism. To sow the seeds of a
Third World War.
I say, let us honor the slain, love the survivors and show the snake
that we will not be cowered. Do the things that can make some difference.
Give blood. Donate money. Resume our lives and support our leaders
as they ferret out the snakes and rip their heads off. America is
more than just a building. We are also greater than any foe. We
stand alone as the Supreme military power and should be wiser in
the use of our power in times of peace. We should also be prepared
to create a wasteland for the enemies who dare to strike our homes.
There go my fantasies again, sorry.
Back to Trade. Every game that is canceled loses about a million
dollars to our economy. Every event that goes dark is a victory
for the foe. If evil ones are not brave enough to show their cowardly
faces of despite, then let us be brave enough to show that America
is greater, more powerful and resilient enough to grind their hatred
into dust. We need to get back in flow for two reasons:
1. This is not a war with a nation-state
but a bunch of fanatics whose only ending will be in blood and fire.
We can not mobilize and fight in the traditional manner. It will
take time. We will not forget nor forgive.
2. This is an attack on our economy
as much as an attack on our people. If we allow our country to tank,
the snakes win just as surely as if bin Laden took a dump in the
halls of Congress.
So those who think all activity should stop for a week of mourning,
I gently suggest that our paralysis is feeding the snake. Let us
gather and shout our resolve to live the American lifestyle, the
envy of the civilized world, the lifestyle that bin Laden and his
ilk hate so much. He doesn't have much longer to hate. Lets' cut
short his celebration even further by hugging our friend, kissing
our loved ones and joining in grateful prayer that we live in a
land blessed with hard work and untold opportunities. And lets look
for the day bin Laden's body is drug through the streets of New
York.
Play on.
