2020 Outlook
Depth Chart
Julio Jones is one of the top wide receivers of the past decade. He has produced annually and has been durable, playing in fewer than 13 games only once. He has racked up 797 receptions for over 12,000 yards in his 9 seasons. He and Matt Ryan seem to be fully on the same page, and they are extremely effective together. We should expect more of the same from Jones this season.

It is true that he recently turned 31, but there have been no signs that he is slowing down due to age. He looked as dynamic as ever last season, and put up 99 receptions for 1,394 yards. He has never been a prolific touchdown scorer, but most of that is due to offensive scheme and to the defense paying extra attention to him near the goal line. He is an excellent pick in any fantasy format, and even in dynasty leagues Jones should have a good enough next three seasons to make him a solid pick.

The continued development of Calvin Ridley should only help Jones, as defenses are able to double team him less. In addition, if Gurley is more effective than Freeman, the defense will also have to pay more attention to the running game, opening up more opportunities for the receivers to get free in space. If Jones stays healthy, production is all but guaranteed.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Julio Jones absent from injury report, expected to play
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 16, 1:51 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Big news for Falcons: Julio Jones does not carry a game designation, signaling that he WILL PLAY on Sunday. Takk McKinley and Jaylinn Hawkins have been ruled out. (William McFadden on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Jones has been bothered by a hamstring injury the last two weeks but it appears he'll give it a go in Week 6 against the Vikings. It's hard to trust the veteran who carries a huge injury risk but most fantasy owners will likely push the start button next to Julio's name.

Injury Julio Jones inactive for Week 5
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 11, 11:30 am

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons officially rule out Julio Jones (hamstring) for today's matchup vs. Panthers. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Julio's been gimping around the last two weeks with a hamstring injury. In his absence Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage and Olamide Zaccheaus will be the top three wideout options for Matt Ryan. Zaccheaus makes for a nice salary saver on DraftKings at only $3000.

Injury Julio Jones misses practice all week, Questionable
Gametime decision
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 9, 3:11 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Julio Jones (hamstring) did not practice all week. Looks like another game-time decision. Falcons rule out rookie S Jaylinn Hawkins (concussion). (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Julio aggravated his hamstring injury early in Week 4 and missed most of the game. He'll be hard to trust against the Panthers even if he is active. Olamide Zaccheaus would be inline for a bigger workload if Julio sits.

Injury "Too early" to say Julio Jones (hamstring) will play Week 5
Falcons WR still not quite 100 percent
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Wed Oct 7, 1:46 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Vaughn McClure (@vxmcclure23) on Twitter: "Quinn said if Julio is at his best with the hamstring, he will play. Too early to tell now." (Twitter/ESPN)

FFToday's Take: The coaches have said that Julio Jones needs to be "at his best" with the hamstring injury, and that's what's been keeping him from significant fantasy contributions this season. At this point Calvin Ridley is a solid bounce-back candidate for Week 5 and TE Hayden Hurst is shaping up as a back-end TE1.

Injury Julio, Ridley both listed as Questionable for Monday night
Russell Gage is expected to play
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 3, 2:49 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons’ WR update for Monday Night’s game in Green Bay: Julio Jones (hamstring) and Calvin Ridley (ankle) both will be listed as questionable. Russell Gage (concussion) is expected to play. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Given what's happened at practice this week it seems like both Julio and Ridley will likely play this week although we won't know for sure until Monday. In the same game, Davante Adams seems like more of a risk. Fantasy owners of Adams should have plan B in place.

Injury Falcons WRs nursing injuries
Calvin Ridley absent from practice Thursday
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 1, 11:55 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Seven starters were held out of practice on Thursday, which was the first day of practice for the Falcons this week. On that list of starters who missed practice were wide receiver Calvin Ridley (ankle). Some key starters were also limited during Thursday's practice session, including wide receivers Julio Jones (hamstring) and Russell Gage (concussion). (Falcons.com)

FFToday's Take: Because the Falcons play on Monday night, fantasy owners won't know the status of any of these receivers until sometime Saturday afternoon. However, the early sense is that Jones and Gage will play. Ridley will probably join them, but a DNP to begin the week isn't what his fantasy owners wanted to see. Assuming he plays, he'll try to make it 4-for-4 with 100-yard receiving games against the Packers.

Injury Julio Jones making progress
Missed Week 3 with hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 1, 12:01 pm

Atlanta Falcons
Dan Quinn on Julio Jones, who missed last week with a left hamstring strain: “Well, he’s definitely getting more opportunity, more chances to go. He had some running. He’ll be doing some rehab run; did all the walkthroughs today. So he’s definitely participating already at a higher level. As the week goes, I see that work increasing in preparation for Monday night. So, yeah, we’re certainly trending that way." (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Jones gets an extra day to get healthy as the Falcons play the Packers on Monday night. We should get a better idea of Julio's true status on Saturday.

Injury Julio Jones out for Week 3
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Sep 27, 11:30 am

Atlanta Falcons
Falcons rule out Julio Jones (hamstring) for today’s game against the Bears. Means more Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage at receiver as well as tight end Hayden Hurst. Jones missed a game last year with a shoulder injury. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Julio is inactive for the Falcons. That will leave Ridley, Gage and Hurst as the main weapons for Matt Ryan today against the Bears. Christian Blake will get a bigger opportunity today as well.

Injury Julio Jones will be a gametime decision
Hamstring injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 25, 11:21 am

Atlanta Falcons
Dan Quinn said Julio Jones (hamstring) will be taken up all the way to the game. So game-time decision. He will be on the side today. Has been involved in the game plan. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Julio seemed limited last week dealing with his hamstring injury. If he's active, he's going to be very difficult for fantasy owners to put on the bench. Calvin Ridley and Russell Gage should continue to be quality starts in light of Julio's nagging injury.

Injury Julio Jones absent from practice again
Consecutive missed practices w/ hamstring injury
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 24, 12:00 am

Atlanta Falcons
We will see what happens tomorrow with Julio Jones' status. He usually fights through things but strained the injured hamstring. (ESPN - Vaughn McClure)

FFToday's Take: Jones' participation in practice on Friday (or the lack thereof) figures to be critical in getting an early read for his Week 3 status. The likelihood he made it worse in Week 2 would suggest he'll be on the doubtful side of questionable. Fantasy owners should expect be without him as a result. Atlanta's offense figures to suffer against the Bears without Julio, but fantasy owners should still start Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage and Hayden Hurst based on projected volume alone.
