2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
The winds of change in Cincinnati finally blew in, as Marvin Lewis was mercifully let go, and Sean McVay protege Zac Taylor was added as head coach. The Bengals hope plucking a fruit off the McVay tree will help salvage whatever is left of Andy Dalton's career, as he returns to lead the offense for the 2019 season. Dalton was at best mediocre last year before being put in I.R. with a thumb injury suffered during Week 12. This is likely the final shot the 31-year old has as a starter in this league.

This offense has potential for sure, with two quality wideouts in Green and Boyd, and an explosive runner in Joe Mixon. But in order for this offense to take the next step, Dalton has to be more than simply a game manager, and that's not something he's done all too frequently in his career. McVay and Taylor worked magic with Jared Goff, but can an unproven rookie head coach catch lighting in a bottle again? The pace of this offense is certainly going to improve, and at times they will be dangerous to defend, but I can't bring myself to trust Dalton as anything more than low-end back-up. Losing 1st round pick Jonah Williams is going to leave Dalton susceptible to rushes on the blind side and hurt the consistency of the offense, leaving the Red Rifle to fire more than a few blanks.

Cincinnati turns back to Andy Dalton
Named starting QB for Week 13
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 25, 4:50 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
With Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams lining up the NFL’s intricate No.8 defense Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium and Bill Belichick hauling in the Patriots’ No. 2 defense in here two weeks later with a game in Cleveland against the Browns No. 15 defense, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor went back to Andy Dalton as his starting quarterback. “It’s the best decision for the football team right now to do this,” Taylor said. “We’re going to face some tough defenses these next couple of weeks. (Dalton) will give us an opportunity to win.” (Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson)

FFToday's Take: It's unclear if the Bengals are making the switch to avoid having Ryan Finley face the aforementioned gauntlet of defenses, but rookie Ryan Finley wasn't getting the job done. The switch is good news for fantasy owners of Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson, although their immediate upsides will be limited by the quality of their opponents. Consider Boyd and Tate decent WR3 options in Week 13.

Injury A.J. Green doesn't think he's going to play Sunday
Ankle, contract issue
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Nov 7, 1:28 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
A.J. Green says ankle is swollen. Asked if he is going to play Sunday: “Probably not.” (Paul Dehner Jr. on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: So much for the Green debut in Week 10. It's tough to gauge how much this is related to his ankle or his contract, but it's probably a little of both. With Andy Dalton on the bench, the Bengals will roll out Ryan Finley at quarterback and Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Alex Erickson at receiver against the Ravens.

Ryan Finley to start at QB after Bengals' bye
Andy Dalton benched after nine seasons at helm in Cincy
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 29, 2:01 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
Tom Pelissero on Twitter: "Sources: The #Bengals are making a QB change after the bye. Andy Dalton goes to the bench. Rookie Ryan Finley expected to start. More right now on @nflnetwork" (Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The decision to bench Andy Dalton after almost nine seasons at the helm was probably a tough one, but it's not a terrible decision for the organization. Finley was the No. 104 overall pick and was mostly a game manager type in the preseason. He's unlikely to emerge as a long-term solution in Cincinnati, but he will have A.J. Green for Week 10 against the Ravens. He's off the fantasy radar and has similar upside to Brandon Allen in Denver.

Injury John Ross expected to miss multiple games
Shoulder injury
By: Mike Krueger | Tue Oct 1, 5:14 pm

Cincinnati Bengals
#Bengals WR John Ross is expected to miss multiple games with a shoulder injury suffered last night vs. the #Steelers, sources say. Could be in the range of a month or so. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With A.J. Green still a few weeks away, the Bengals are down another receiver. Tyler Boyd and Auden Tate should be the most targeted wide receivers for Andy Dalton this week against a porous Cardinals defense.
