| George Kittle likely done for the season|
Broken bone in foot

FFToday's Take: The hits just keep coming for the 49ers, who also learned on Monday they will be without Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) for at least a month. Deebo Samuel, Raheem Mostert, Tevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson and Jordan Reed are all expected to miss at least Week 9. Reed was designated for return within the last week, so fantasy owners desperate for a fill-in can roll the dice on him and hope he can stay healthy long enough to power their teams into the fantasy playoffs.
| Jordan Reed injured again|
Likely out 6-8 weeks with knee sprain
By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 28, 7:40 pm
|49ers’ HC Kyle Shanahan said TE Jordan Reed could miss 6-8 weeks due to a knee sprain suffered Sunday. (ESPN - Adam Schefter)|
FFToday's Take: The oft-injured tight end's left knee appeared to give out on the MetLife Stadium turf in the back of the end zone on a near-touchdown catch late in the first quarter. HC Kyle Shanahan was openly critical of the playing surface in the week leading up to the injury after losing a handful of players against the Jets one week earlier. The 49ers should be able to withstand the blow as George Kittle is expected back from his own knee sprain in Week 4.
| George Kittle a gametime decision|
Questionable with knee injury
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 25, 1:00 pm
|Coach Kyle Shanahan, speaking Friday morning on KNBR's "Murph & Mac Show," said the All-Pro will be a game-time decision for the 49ers' matchup Sunday against the New York Giants. George Kittle likely is to be listed as "questionable" with his knee injury. (NBC BayArea)|
FFToday's Take: The 49ers will be without quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and their two top running backs, Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman. Kittle has been limited in practice this week and the team has some concerns with the field conditions at MetLife Stadium. If Kittle sits, Jordan Reed would be viable TE2 play even on limited snaps.
| George Kittle ruled out with knee sprain|
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 18, 4:45 pm
|George Kittle was ruled out for their Week 2 game against the New York Jets with a knee sprain, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. Kittle will remain in the Bay Area for a couple of extra days of recovery before joining the team for the week in West Virginia as they prepare for their Week 3 game against the New York Giants. (NBC Sports)|
FFToday's Take: With Kittle out, Jordan Reed will step into a starting role and is a decent low-end TE1 option given the lack of pass catching weapons for Jimmy Garoppolo. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk will see his first action of the season after sitting out Week 1 with a hamstring injury.
| George Kittle unlikely to practice all week|
TE still expected to play through knee sprain in Week 2
By: Doug Orth | Thu Sep 17, 11:55 pm
|49ers TE George Kittle will get the whole week to rest, according to Kyle Shanahan, though he might be involved in Friday's practice. But Shanahan said there is no problem with him playing even if he doesn't practice. Shanahan optimistic that Kittle will be available on Sunday. (ESPN - Nick Wagoner)|
FFToday's Take: Fantasy owners should remain skeptical for at least two reasons: 1) there's always a chance Shanahan protects him by cutting his snaps back and 2) he shouldn't be needed to beat the Jets. The natural pivot for fantasy owners would be Jordan Reed, but the position is deep enough this year that it would be advisable to go in another direction - such as Logan Thomas in shallow leagues or maybe even Dan Arnold in deep leagues.
