2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
To the chagrin of millions of Lions fans around the world, former first-round bust Eric Ebron exploded in his first season with the Colts to the tune of 750 yards and 13 receiving touchdowns. Ebron flashed the talent that made him a first-round pick in 2014, with career highs in targets, receptions, receiving yards, and of course, touchdowns.

Ebron made the most of Jack Doyle's injury, thriving in an offense that is designed to feature the tight end. Andrew Luck loves throwing to the position, especially in the red zone, and fantasy owners who took a flier on Ebron last year cashed in well.

Doyle's return from injury will likely create a timeshare between the two and negative touchdown regression is most certainly in line for Ebron. However, should Doyle once again suffer an injury, Ebron could once again be a double-digit touchdown threat at a position void of many options after the big three of Kelce, Ertz and Kittle.

Steelers bring in TE Eric Ebron, two-year deal
Two-year, $12 million deal
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Mar 20, 1:12 pm

Pittburgh Steelers
Former Colts TE Eric Ebron is going to the Steelers on a two-year, $12 million deal, per source. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Steelers restructured Vance McDonald's contract a few days ago giving him a $5.5 base salary, so it appears Pittsburgh will have two viable pass-catching tight ends in 2020. Ebron missed five games last season and took a tumble from his top 5 fantasy finish in 2018. Unless it's clear Ebron is the lead tight end, he'll likely come in with a TE2 fantasy value.

Bears to pursue TE Austin Hooper
Bidding could reach $12 million per year
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Feb 28, 7:00 am

Chicgao Bears
Despite very limited salary-cap space and a highly paid tight end already on their roster, a source said they are planning to pursue Falcons two-time Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper when free agency opens next month. With $26 million in space and few major holes to address, the Bears could make that happen, but they’re a long shot. Hooper is in such high demand - he’s 25 and was top five at his position last season - that bidding could reach $12 million per year. “This offense, a lot of it goes through the tight end,” coach Matt Nagy said. “We’re exploring every avenue.” (Chicago Sun Times)

FFToday's Take: It's clear the Bears want to use the tight end position as a focal point in their offense much like Nagy was used to in Kansas City but the injury woes to Trey Burton have limited their ability to do so. If the Bears are unable to land Hooper they could look to Eric Ebron.
