After nearly a decade with Derek Carr under center, the Raiders are set to turn the starting job over to Garoppolo, who went 38-17 as a starter during a six-year run with the 49ers. He also won four playoff games, though San Francisco ultimately fell short of a championship. The issue with Jimmy G, of course, is durability, as he played a full season just once during his time there. That includes 2022, when he suffered a foot injury in early December that kept him sidelined for the rest of the year.
Beyond the medical red flags, Garoppolo has another serious problem, at least for fantasy owners: he's pretty much just a game manager. Outside of 2019, when he threw for 3,987 yards and 27 TDs, the veteran has never thrown for more than 20 TDs in a season and just once has he topped 2,500 yards. Garoppolo is a pure pocket passer as well, rushing for just 225 yards in 74 career games. While he's never had anyone as singularly talented as Davante Adams, that's not enough to elevate Jimmy G beyond borderline top-25 status at the position.

FFToday's Take: The Raiders are beginning to overhaul their organization mid-season by firing their GM, head coach, offensive coordinator and continue the trend by making a move at quarterback. O'Connell got a spot start in Week 4 against the Chargers and finished 24 of 39, 238-0-1, 3-3-1. He was the QB19 on the week. He'll be an option in two-QB formats only unless he demonstrates more rushing ability.

FFToday's Take: Garoppolo missed last week with a back issue but has been practicing this week and should be out there Monday night against the Lions. That's good news for Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers in the passing game. The Lions have given up the 8th most fantasy points to quarterbacks.

FFToday's Take: Garoppolo suffered a back injury last week and was replaced by veteran Brian Hoyer. The Raiders have yet to name a starting quarterback, meaning either Aidan O'Connell or Hoyer will get the call. Regardless of who's at quarterback, expect a lot of touches for Josh Jacobs against the Bears sub-standard run defense.

FFToday's Take: The Raiders rolled out Aidan O'Connell last week against the Chargers to mixed results (24-39, 238-0-1). With Jimmy G back in the mix, that helps the outlook for the passing game including Jakobi Meyers. The Packers are middle-of-the-road against quarterbacks giving up the 19th most fantasy points to the position.

FFToday's Take: The Raiders will turn to rookie QB Aidan O'Connell who played reasonably well in the pre-season, leading all quarterbacks in passer rating. He gets the nod over veteran Brian Hoyer. How much this move affects Davante Adams remains to be seen but he and Jakobi Meyers are riskier plays with the QB rookie in the mix.

Either way, this negatively affects the outlook of the entire offense and puts a wet blanket on the fantasy prospects of Josh Jacobs, Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.
