|It may surprise some fantasy owners to learn that Thomas posted the third-most targets for tight ends in 2020, trailing only Darren Waller and Travis Kelce. The converted quarterback caught 72 passes for 670 yards and six scores after building an excellent rapport with Alex Smith, a QB well known to target tight ends and running backs in the passing game.
Thomas enters 2021 as the starter at TE, but his tight-end friendly quarterback retired and has been replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick, a QB who has a history of preferring wide receivers over tight ends.
Although we do think he will take a bit of a step back this season, Thomas is squarely in the mix for late-round tight ends to target for those owners who pass on the top 5 at the position.
| Logan Thomas placed on IR, season over|
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 8, 10:33 am
|While the initial MRI results were promising, Washington puts TE Logan Thomas (knee) on IR as he continues to do more testing. Because this is his second stint on IR, his season is officially over. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: It's been a rough year for Thomas who spent much of the season bothered by a hamstring injury. Washington will move forward with Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) and rookie John Bates at tight end. It's unclear at this time if RSJ will be play in Week 14. Even if he does, it's likely Bates would see some action as well.
| Likely torn ACL & MCL for Washington TE Logan Thomas|
Further tests coming
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 5, 9:29 pm
|Washington believes TE Logan Thomas “likely” tore his ACL and MCL during today’s win over Las Vegas, per source. Thomas will undergo further testing to confirm the injury after the team returns to Washington. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Thomas will end up playing 5 games this year after spending most of the season on the IR with a hamstring injury. Rookie John Bates and veteran Ricky Seals-Jones (hip) will hold down the position for the final five games. RSJ was inactive in Week 13.
| Logan Thomas, Curtis Samuel expected to play Monday night|
Thomas expected to activated off IR
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Nov 27, 1:10 pm
|The Washington Football Team, on a two-game winning streak, should have additional offensive help available Monday night vs. Seattle as tight end Logan Thomas and receiver Curtis Samuel are expected to play, barring a last minute-change in their health. (ESPN)|
FFToday's Take: Washington will likely activate Thomas off IR on Sunday. How much either of them play is still up in the air. With Ricky Seals-Jones listed as Doubtful, its likely Thomas and rookie John Bates will both see action at tight end. Samuel is expected to be limited in the game and is off the fantasy radar given his multiple-month battle with a groin injury.
