The Adam Thielen we remember from 2020 and 2021 when he had 24 receiving TDs is long gone. Even his 2023 version when he hauled in a ridiculous 103 catches is nowhere to be found. Thielen's fantasy stardom days are over, but maybe the young receivers on this team can glean knowledge from the veteran. Thielen's restructured contract implies that this is his last season in Carolina, and the team may have interest in getting the young players more involved. Entering draft season, however, Thielen is viewed only as a depth piece. Some may even skip Thielen entirely and take a flyer on fellow Panther receiver Xavier Legette several rounds later. I, too, would take Legette in this scenario.

Trade: Adam Thielen returns to Minnesota Pick swaps in 2026 and 2027 By: Mike Krueger | Wed Aug 27, 9:46 am

| | Homecoming: Panthers and Vikings are finalizing a trade for WR Adam Thielen to return to Minnesota, sources tell ESPN.
The trade: Vikings get Thielen, a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Panthers get a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Thielen starred for the Vikings from 2013-2022. Now he returns. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: This trade has been in the works the last few days but the two sides were struggling on the terms. The Vikings have some depth issues at receiver with Jordan Addison being suspended the first three games. Thielen is familiar with Kevin O'Connell's offense and it won't be a surprise if he's in the starting lineup Week 1 against the Bears. Carolina will move forward with Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker opposite rookie Tetairoa McMillan.

| Vikings interested in trading for WR Adam Thielen Addison suspension, plus Nailor hand injury spurring action By: Mike Krueger | Fri Aug 22, 10:07 am

| | Vikings have inquired about trading for Panthers WR Adam Thielen, per league sources.
With WR Jordan Addison serving a three-game suspension and Jalen Nailor dealing with a hand injury, Thielen could wind up starting opening night for the Vikings if they can complete the trade. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: The Panthers could easily slide Jalen Coker into three wide receiver sets or elevate Hunter Renfrow if they make this deal happen. The Vikings currently have a depth problem at the position with Nailor nursing a hand injury, Addison's suspension and Justin Jefferson missing a good deal of camp with a hamstring injury. The move makes sense for the Vikings; let's see if they can pull it off.
