The Browns hit big with Cooper in free agency last season, as the former Cowboy topped 1,100 yards and hit career highs with 132 targets and nine touchdowns. Even more impressive is that Cooper put up a top-10 standard league finish with a career backup (Brissett) and an extremely rusty (Watson) throwing him the ball. While Cooper finished with impressive overall stats, his weekly rollercoaster ride wasn't ideal. He had five games under 5.0 pts, and was really propped up by five other games that accounted for over 50% of his yardage and 7 of his 9 touchdowns. Cooper also left too much meat on the bone, as he was 2nd in the NFL among receivers with 11 drops. With Watson at the helm for a full offseason, look for Cooper to be more consistent, but with more flexibility in gameplan, he might struggle to reach those 132 targets again. As long as DeAndre Hopkins doesn't join the squad after his free agency tour is over, Cooper is going to lead the team in receiving, and is an undervalued WR2 that has upside for more.

Deshaun Watson will have shoulder surgery, out for the year Dorian Thompson-Robinson expected to start By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 15, 8:58 am

| | #Browns QB Deshaun Watson wanted to be shot up and play through the injuries, and he sought multiple medical opinions, per sources. But doctors were clear: if he got hit again in the same spot, the shoulder could fall apart. Now surgery awaits and his 2023 season is over. (Tom Pelissero on X)
FFToday's Take: Watson played in six games this season, first injuring his shoulder in Week 3. This is a blow to the playoff hopes of the Browns and now with Dorian Thompson-Robinson starting, it's a blow to the upside of Amari Cooper and the offense. Upcoming schedule for Cleveland includes Pittsburgh, @ Denver, @ LA Rams and Jacksonville.

| Deshaun Watson not expected to play Week 6 P.J. Walker taking first team reps in practice By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 12, 6:33 pm

| | I’m told the #Browns QB Deshaun Watson will not play Sunday vs the 5-0 #49ers, per source. (Josina Anderson on X)
FFToday's Take: Watson missed the Browns' Week 4 game and had the bye week to get healed up, but apparently isn't ready to step on the field. P.J. Walker has been taking first-team reps in practice this week and should get the start against the 49ers. This isn't great for Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore as both will slide in the rankings down to Flex options in Week 6.

| Amari Cooper to give it a go on Monday night Listed as questionable after late-week groin tweak By: Doug Orth | Mon Sep 18, 7:10 pm

| | Source: #Browns WR Amari Cooper, who tweaked his groin this weekend in practice and was listed as questionable, will be active tonight vs. the #Steelers. A big lift. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: There seems to be no hint of how serious of a tweak Cooper suffered, but it is safe to assume he will be far less than 100 percent and could even end up being a decoy. Elijah Moore and David Njoku figure to be more active as a result, while Nick Chubb could be heavily featured against a Pittsburgh defense that got gashed by Christian McCaffrey in Week 1. Moore should be a strong WR3 option at worst, while Njoku should have TE1 upside. Chubb, of course, should be started everywhere.

| Amari Cooper added to injury report, Questionable Groin injury By: Mike Krueger | Sat Sep 16, 12:57 pm

| | #Browns Amari Cooper aggravated his groin injury on Saturday and is questionable for the #Steelers game; Juan Thornhill is questionable too. Kevin Stefanski can't say if he's optimistic Cooper will play. (Mary Kay Cabot on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Cooper got in a full practice on Friday but is now in danger of missing Monday night's game with the Steelers. The Browns would likely lean on Elijah Moore, Donovan Peoples-Jones and David Njoku in the passing game if Cooper were to miss.
