FFToday's Take: It's been a lost season for McCaffrey who played in three games and suffered multiple injuries. Mike Davis will continue to work as the primary ball carrier with Rodney Smith working in relief.

Christian McCaffrey was limited today. (Approximation as it was a walkthrough.)
Matt Rhule says he's not expecting McCaffrey to play Saturday at Green Bay. (Joe Person on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Panthers didn't actually practice today and Rhule did note that if McCaffery was able to run in practice on Wednesday he might change his tune on McCaffrey's availability. Fantasy owners should expect McCaffrey to sit this week and have plan B in place. Mike Davis would once again get the majority of reps against the Packers.

Panthers coach Matt Rhule said at this time he does not expect Christian McCaffrey to play vs. the Broncos. (Joe Person on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: McCaffrey missed practice on Thursday and appears to be headed for the inactive list on Sunday. Mike Davis owners get another usable week out of their waiver wire gem. He'll face a middle-of-the-road matchup against the Broncos in Week 14.

McCaffrey limited on Wednesday with thigh injury Missed last three games with shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 9, 2:23 pm

| |
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey was limited with a shoulder injury and a new injury -- thigh, which he tweaked last week, according to Matt Rhule. Matt Rhule said it tightened up today. (Joe Person on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It sounds like McCaffrey is going to have to improve quite a bit in order to play this week. If he misses, Mike Davis would be in for another big workload. We'll follow Thursday and Friday practice reports closely.

Christian McCaffrey to miss more time? Coach called RB "week-to-week" on Monday By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 23, 8:00 pm

| |
Panthers coach Matt Rhule seems more optimistic that QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) will play Sunday against Minnesota than RB Christian McCaffrey (shoulder). “I would expect Teddy to practice on Wednesday and we’ll take it from there. He was cleared to play yesterday, so I would assume he will be ready to go on Wednesday. Christian, we’ll take it week to week." (ESPN - David Newton)
FFToday's Take: McCaffrey has already missed two games with his shoulder after missing six with his knee sprain. Taken at face value, Rhule's comments make it sound like he is pessimistic that the stud running back will be ready to play in Week 12 against the Vikings. However, it would make sense for Carolina to give its top back another game off with a bye coming up in Week 13. At least for now, it appears Mike Davis is set up to make at least one more start.

Christian McCaffrey unlikely to play in Week 11 Shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 16, 10:16 am

| |
Panthers’ RB Christian McCaffrey is unlikely to play Sunday against the Lions due to his shoulder injury and the team still is preparing got a multi-week absence, per source.
So likely no McCaffrey and uncertainty about QB Teddy Bridgewater, too. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Not good news. It was reported last week that McCaffrey might be able to play this week, but it looks like we'll be seeing more of Mike Davis as the lead back in Carolina. Davis has been the RB29, RB31, RB32, RB30 the last four weeks.

Christian McCaffrey's Week 10 status "in doubt" Panthers would turn to Mike Davis again if CMC can't go Sunday By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Wed Nov 11, 11:07 am

| |
Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) on Twitter: "#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, dealing with a painful shoulder injury suffered Sunday, won’t practice today, source said. His status for Sunday is further in doubt." (Twitter/NFL Network)
FFToday's Take: Mike Davis could have some more time for fantasy owners as a clear-cut RB1, but we'll have to wait and see if CMC practices later this week.

Christian McCaffrey could miss time Shoulder injury By: Mike Krueger | Mon Nov 9, 9:54 am

| |
#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey, who returned after missing more than a month with an ankle injury, could miss more time with a shoulder injury suffered yesterday, source said. He’s having tests today, but his status this week is very much in doubt. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: McCaffrey was back in a workhorse role in Week 9 but was getting his shoulder and ribs looked at during yesterday's game with the Chiefs. Mike Davis would jump back into an RB1 role if McCaffrey misses any time.

Panthers expected to activate McCaffrey this weekend Should play against the Chiefs By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 6, 1:20 pm

| |
Panthers plan to activate RB Christian McCaffrey this weekend and he is expected to play Sunday against the Chiefs. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: We've expected McCaffrey to get cleared and play against the Chiefs, the only question is does he jump right back in to his workhorse role or does Mike Davis force some kind of timeshare. It's hard to be against McCaffrey and giving the decent matchup against a Chiefs defense that will allow big gains in the running game, McCaffrey is easily an RB1.

Christian McCaffrey not expected to play Ankle injury By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 29, 7:07 am

| |
#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (ankle) isn’t expected to be activated from injured reserve for tonight’s game against the #Falcons, per sources. He returned to practice Tuesday and Carolina hasn’t formally ruled him out. But it was a long shot all week and remains that way. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It's another week of Mike Davis as a bellcow running back. McCaffrey has only been back at practice for two days so it makes sense to hold him out another. The Panthers face the Chiefs in Week 9.

Christian McCaffrey returns to practice Still considered "a long shot" to play Week 8 By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 26, 4:30 pm

| |
Christian McCaffrey changed into a red jersey for the portion of practice open to the media. He was in a baseball cap on the sideline as the team stretched and did not actively participate. (Panthers.com - Myles Simmons)
FFToday's Take: Baby steps. McCaffrey had not practiced since going down in Week 2, and it doesn't make much sense to rush him on a short week when the team can give him another week to recover. Assuming he sits out Thursday's game against Atlanta and ramps thing up next week, CMC will have had six full weeks to recover. In short, he should be able to hit the ground running for his fantasy owners over the second half of the season. Mike Davis figures to get one more start in Week 8.
