2019 was finally the year for Parker to live up to the draft hype. The 6'3", 210-pound former first-round pick always had all the skills required to be a stud wide receiver in the NFL, he just lacked motivation and the work ethic to produce elite numbers. Although he reportedly turned things around last season from a work ethic perspective, the Dolphins were downright dreadful in 2018 and injuries limited him to just 11 games.
Two other key components led to the big season for Parker in 2019. The Dolphins went with the gun-slinging Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, a player who loves to target big wide receivers like Parker downfield, and someone who does not mind throwing into tight coverage. Another component was the fact that the Dolphins were terrible on defense, the Dolphins had no run game, and the team constantly chased points.
This season, those factors may not be in place. Eventually, Tua will take over at QB, the running game looks to be more viable with Jordan Howard and Matt Breida, and the defense seems to be improved.
Parker will likely lead the team in targets once again, and he will be a red zone threat, but he may not get the same level of volume that helped fuel his breakout season.

DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant listed as questionable Limited on Friday By: Mike Krueger | Fri Jan 1, 12:45 pm

| | DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant, Shaq Lawson and Solomon Kindley will all be questionable Sunday vs. Bills. (Cameron Wolfe on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: We'll likely have to wait for inactive to come out before we know for sure if either Parker and/or Grant (ankle) will play in Week 17. It seems like Parker (hamstring) has the better chance of the two. Miami is fighting for a playoff berth.

| High ankle sprain for Jakeem Grant Will miss Week 17 By: Mike Krueger | Mon Dec 28, 10:53 am

| | #Dolphins WR and returner Jakeem Grant suffered a high-ankle sprain in the team’s dramatic win over the #Raiders, source said, and he’s out for Sunday’s must-win game vs. the #Bills. An injured reserve possibility. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Dolphins have been nursing injuries in their receiving corps for weeks now with DeVante Parker missing this week with a hamstring injury. Mack Hollins, Isaiah Ford and Lynn Bowden Jr. were other receivers to get work against the Raiders. Tight end Mike Gesicki could be the leading pass catcher for Miami against the Bills.

| Parker, Gesicki, Grant Inactive for the Dolphins Miami down 3 key offensive weapons By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 20, 11:30 am

| | Miami Dolphins officially without DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki, Jakeem Grant and Ereck Flowers. Other than that, everything's fine. (Joe Schad on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Dolphins are optimistic that Parker and Gesicki would play earlier this morning but now Miami will be without three of their main offensive weapons. Lynn Bowden Jr. will be a nice Flex option against the Patriots.

| DeVante Parker expected to play Hamstring injury By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 20, 7:00 am

| | Miami Dolphins leading wide receiver DeVante Parker is expected to play Sunday vs. the New England Patriots despite a minor hamstring strain, a league source told @CameronWolfe. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Dolphins will have one of it's main weapons for their game against the Patriots. Other reports suggest that Jakeem Grant (hamstring) is likely to sit while TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) is expected to play but will test out his injury during pregame warmups.

| Gesicki, Parker, Grant all limited on Friday, Questionable Unclear who the main offensive weapons will be in Week 15 By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 18, 1:09 pm

| | Mike Gesicki, DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant all questionable for Miami Dolphins. Brian Flores does not have an answer at this time for if Gesicki may need surgery at some point. #MiamiDolphins (Joe Schad on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Dolphins have a lot of moving parts on offense this week including the running back position where Salvon Ahmed returned to practice this week. DeAndre Washington is still the favorite to lead the backfield in touches. We may have to wait for Inactives to come out to get better idea of who will be involved in the passing game.

| DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant limited on Wednesday Matt Breida off the COVID-19 list By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 16, 12:45 pm

| | Mike Gesicki and Bobby McCain were not spotted at Dolphins practice today while DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant (wrap on right leg) practiced in some capacity with their hamstring injuries. Matt Breida is off the COVID-19 list. Salvon Ahmed practiced in a red non-contact jersey. (Cameron Wolfe on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: There are a lot of moving parts with the Dolphins this week. The fact that Parker and Grant got in limited work today is a good sign for their availability this week against the Patriots. We probably won't know until Friday who will be available at running back.

| Dolphins receivers dealing with hamstring issues DeVante Parker, Jakeem Grant uncertain for Week 15 By: Mike Krueger | Tue Dec 15, 11:15 am

| | One week after Miami had to play without its top three running backs, the status of its two starting receivers is now up in the air, with Jakeem Grant also dealing with a hamstring strain. #Dolphins WR DeVante Parker suffered a slight hamstring strain in Sunday's loss to the #Chiefs, source said. Status TBD for this week against the #Patriots, but worth noting Parker hasn’t missed a game this season. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: We'll get a better idea of their status on Wednesday but we could see more of Lynn Bowden Jr. this week as the depth of the receiving corps in Miami gets tested. Bowden saw 9 targets against the Chiefs hauling in 7 for 82 yards.

| Tua Tagovailoa expected to start Thumb injury By: Mike Krueger | Sun Dec 6, 9:00 am

| | #Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa (thumb) is expected to be back in as the starter today, source said, assuming all goes well in warmups. In anticipation of being back in the lineup, Tua took most of the first-team reps this week. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: With Tua starting, this throws some cold water on the Miami offense as a whole, especially receiver DeVante Parker. The matchup is decent against the Bengals but the upside of Parker is capped with Tua at QB.

| Miami waiting to name starting QB for Week 13 Tua Tagovailoa dealing with thumb injury By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 3, 11:00 am

| | Flores non committal on Tua Tagovailoa for Sunday because of injury (Barry Jackson on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Head coach Brian Flores has indicated that Tua will start whenever he's healthy but he may wait until Sunday to decided who the Dolphins QB will be. The offense would be helped in Fitzpatrick gets the start, especially DeVante Parker who seems to thrive with Fitz quarterbacking the offense.
