Hooper increased his fantasy point per game average for the third consecutive season with the Falcons. His 71 catches for 660 yards and four touchdowns on 88 targets were all career highs, and he managed to post three games with double-digit targets in Weeks 5, 6, and 10.
As an afterthought for most owners, Hooper is one of the better values for owners who miss out on the top three tight ends early in drafts. Although his low touchdown rate is a concern, he has a solid rapport with Matt Ryan and plays on what projects to be a top-10 NFL offense. Considering how barren the tight end landscape is this season, drafting Hooper in the later rounds is not a bad option.

Julio Jones, Austin Hooper good to go for Sunday Falcons passing game getting healthy By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 6, 12:33 pm

| | Dan Quinn said Julio Jones (shoulder) and Austin Hooper (MCL) wi11 play vs. Carolina on Sunday. (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: This will be Hooper's first game since spraining his MCL in Week 10. Julio missed last week's game with a shoulder injury. This gives Matt Ryan and the offense all of their weapons in a matchup against the Panthers. The Panthers are more susceptible to the run, making this a sneaky good spot for Devonta Freeman.

| Julio Jones listed as questionable Austin Hooper out By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 27, 1:10 pm

| | Dan Quinn the decision with Julio Jones will come down to how he feels before the game, that he has full strength in shoulder and contact.
FFToday's Take: Austin Hooper is officially out for Thursday night. Julio went through the walkthrough today which puts him on track to play. He'll be a gametime decision but it sounds like he'll give it a go against the Saints.

| Devonta Freeman back at practice Falcons RB set to return in Week 12 By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 26, 4:10 pm

| | Falcons injury report with Julio Jones (shoulder) and Austin Hooper (MCL) held out and Devonta Freeman (foot) full (Vaughn McClure on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Falcons running game has been non-existent much of the season but Freeman should give the team a bit of a boost on a short week. Julio's shoulder injury will likely have him limited tomorrow, if he practices at all. He will likely come down to a gametime decision.

| Austin Hooper expected to miss a month Sprained MCL By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 13, 12:11 pm

| | Update on the MCL sprain suffered by #Falcons TE Austin Hooper: He’s expected to be out about a month, source said. Not great news for the NFL’s leader in catches at his position. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Bad news for Hooper owners who will be without their tight end for the stretch run in fantasy leagues. Luke Stocker is the next man up at the position but he is more of a blocker. It won't be surprising if the Falcons use more three wide receiver sets this week against the Panthers.
