2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
The third-year breakout season for Shepard that many anticipated, especially with the prolonged absence of Odell Beckham Jr. due to injury, never materialized as the former Oklahoma Sooner managed just 66 receptions for 872 yards and four touchdowns on 107 targets.

Although some may chalk up Shepards' struggles to a terrible New York offense, the stats somewhat paint a different picture. The Giants finished 12th overall in passing yards, just ahead of the Saints and the Vikings. And the G-men finished the season with 689 total points for 16th in the league, ahead of other more impressive offenses like the Eagles and Vikings.

It is possible that Shepard moving to the outside with the addition of Golden Tate to the slot could lead to more touchdown opportunities. It is also possible that the improvements to the offensive line could give Eli Manning more time to let plays develop downfield for Shepard and Corey Coleman.

It is also possible that the Giants turn to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones midway through the season should the team be struggling to win games. If that does happen, all skill position players on the team take a knock in their value, especially the receiving corps.

Injury Tate, Engram, Ellison ruled out for Week 13
Giants short-handed against the Packers
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 29, 12:01 pm

New York Giants
OUT for Sunday vs. Packers: WR Golden Tate (concussion), TE Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion), LS Zak DeOssie (back/wrist) and S Jabrill Peppers (back). (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants will be short-handed against the Packers this week with Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Cody Latimer working as the top three wideouts. Kaden Smith and Scott Simonson will fill the void at TE but neither are viable fantasy options.

Injury Golden Tate in concussion protocol
Dealing with concussion suffered in Week 12
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 25, 5:05 pm

New York Giants
Injury update: Golden Tate is in the concussion protocol. Cause of Golden’s concussion is the way he landed on the touchdown reception. (Giants.com)

FFToday's Take: Tate has been a rock-solid WR3 since he returned from his season-opening four-game suspension, so his absence will be felt if he must miss a game or two. However, Sterling Shepard returned from his own concussion in Week 12 and would almost certainly replace Tate in the slot if Tate cannot play. Consider Shepard a WR3 with some decent upside in Week 13 against the Green Bay Packers.

Injury Evan Engram, Ellison ruled out for Week 12
Scott Simonson and Kaden Smith will fill the void at TE
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Nov 22, 12:45 pm

New York Giants
TEs Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion) were officially ruled out for Sunday vs. Bears. Engram said he did some running Friday and felt good. Eyes on next week. TEs Scott Simonson and Kaden Smith will assume a heavy role this week. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Engram out, fantasy owners can look to other options than Simonson and Smith at the tight end position. The Giants are expected to have their top three wide receivers (Golden Tate, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton) available against the Bears.

Injury Engram, Ellison miss practice Wednesday
Unlikely Engram plays in Week 12
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 20, 11:08 am

New York Giants
TEs Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion) not practicing. Would seem to be an upset if Engram's ready for Sunday vs. Bears. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It's looking like another missed game for Engram who last played in Week 9. If he sits, expect the Giants to lean on their three wide receiver set of Golden Tate, Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard against the Bears.

Injury Sterling Shepard not expected to play Week 8
Concussion
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Oct 24, 1:08 pm

New York Giants
Saquon Barkley (ankle) practiced fully for the Giants today. WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) remained limited. He will not be playing Sunday in Detroit. (Ralph Vacchiano on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Another missed week for Shepard means Golden Tate and TE Evan Engram will be the top targets for Daniel Jones against the Lions. Shepard has suffered two concussions this season but does have a chance to return in Week 9 against the Cowboys.

Injury Sterling Shepard not expected to play Week 7
Concussion
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 18, 7:30 am

New York Giants
WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) not going to be cleared this week given situation, per sources. Out Sunday vs. Arizona. Even next week uncertain. Been practicing w/non-contact jersey but a lot to be taken into consideration considering he suffered 2 concussions in four-week span (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: The Giants will likely roll with Golden Tate, Darius Slayton and Cody Latimer as their top three wideouts in a good matchup against the Cardinals, even with Patrick Peterson back on the field. Tate figures to run the majority of his routes from the slot.

Injury Plethora of Giants on the mend
Saquon Barkley, Evan Engram "have a chance" to play in Week 7
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 14, 5:05 pm

New York Giants
RB Saquon Barkley (ankle), RB Wayne Gallman (concussion), TE Evan Engram (knee) and WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) all took part in individual drills during the Giants' light practice today. Shepard is still a longshot to play Sunday. Barkley and Engram have a chance to play. (SNY - Ralph Vacchiano)

FFToday's Take: Barkley will end up missing a total of three games with a high-ankle sprain if he returns in Week 7, and the release of Jon Hilliman after the Week 6 TNF game was an indication the team believes he will be ready for the Cardinals. Engram would be primed for a huge blowup spot against the league's worst defense against tight ends if he can go. As for Shepard, it seems reasonable he could be held out another week after suffering his second concussion of the season in Week 5.

Saquon Barkley and Wayne Gallman both out for TNF
TE Evan Engram doubtful, more Giants reeling from injuries
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Oct 8, 1:06 pm

New York Giants
New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is unlikely to play Thursday night against the New England Patriots despite returning to practice late last week, multiple sources told ESPN. He had been eyeing this week's contest as a potential return date. There's also a real chance the Giants will be without tight end Evan Engram, who is dealing with a sprained MCL and faces a challenge to be healthy enough to face New England, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Engram is on pace for a career year with 33 catches for 373 yards and two touchdowns. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: So with Barkley unavailable Thursday and both Wayne Gallman and WR Sterling Shepard set to miss the game with concussions, the Giants are in dire straits. Undrafted rookie running back Jon Hilliman and fullback Elijhaa Penny, a converted tailback, are the next men up, and WR Golden Tate should see plenty fo targets operating out of the slot.

Injury Sterling Shepard suffers another concussion
Second one of the season
By: Doug Orth | Mon Oct 7, 5:20 pm

New York Giants
Giants receiver Sterling Shepard has another concussion, and will likely be out a while, according to a source. (SNY - Ralph Vacchiano)

FFToday's Take: It means he's a no-go for Thursday's clash with the Patriots, and there's no guarantee he'll be cleared in time to play against the Cardinals in Week 7. Golden Tate will slide into his slot-heavy role while Darius Slayton and Cody Latimer round out the three-receiver sets for the Giants in the meantime.

Injury Sterling Shepard ruled out for Week 2
Concussion
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Sep 13, 12:40 pm

New York Giants
#NYGiants game statuses for Sunday: Out: WR Sterling Shepard (concussion), WR Darius Slayton (hamstring), TE Garrett Dickerson (quad) Questionable: WR Cody Latimer (calf) (Giants on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Shephard out and Latimer questionable it's going to be the Saquon Barkley and Evan Engram show against the Bills. Bennie Fowler, Russell Shepard and perhaps T.J. Jones will be change ups on the outside but expect the Giants to lean their running back and tight end in Week 2.
