2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
The fact that Hunt finished as the No.8 overall running back in standard scoring, despite missing five games, tells you everything you need to know about his talent and value. After a relatively slow start, Hunt began to fill up the stat sheet from Week 4-9, scoring 10 total touchdowns during that span. I'll be perfectly honest, I'm not really sure where to value Hunt in the 2019 season. He's going to end up missing more than half of the fantasy year, and what will his role be when he does return? If Nick Chubb and the offense is rolling, will Hunt be more of a bit player? My gut tells me that Hunt is more than worth stashing on your roster, as he has title winning potential should he grab a lion's share of the backfield work on this offense. The Browns didn't risk the backlash Hunt provided simply to have him be a role player. They saw this as a chance to get a difference making talent for very little monetary risk, and frankly, he's a much better schematic fit for what this offense wants to do. I see him commanding at least a 50/50 split with Chubb initially, and could be the clear lead back just as the fantasy playoffs come around. If your league has extra roster spots, stashing Hunt for 8 weeks becomes a lot easier, but I believe in his talent enough to make roster concessions if I'm forced to.

Injury Sports hernia surgery for Kareem Hunt
4-6 Week Recovery
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Aug 29, 5:30 pm

Cleveland Browns
Browns running back Kareem Hunt underwent sports hernia surgery on Thursday morning and will spend at least part of his eight-game suspension rehabbing from the procedure. He won’t, however, be permitted to rehab at the Browns facility during the suspension, the spokesman said. (Cleveland.com)

FFToday's Take: Hunt should have plenty of time to rehab before he comes off suspension and eligible to play in Week 10 but Hunt shouldn't be considered in most re-draft leagues unless you have a deep bench. Nick Chubb has RB1 upside and first opportunity to be the lead RB even when Hunt ready to contribute.

Dontrell Hilliard looking at increased role
Browns didn't use undrafted rookie last season
By: Antonio D'Arcangelis | Tue Aug 13, 8:30 am

Cleveland Browns
Dontrell Hilliard didn’t take a handoff last year as an undrafted rookie running back, but the news of the Browns’ trade of Duke Johnson Jr. to the Houston Texans on Thursday showed the confidence the Browns have in Hilliard as the likely running mate to starter Nick Chubb. “I feel real comfortable,” Hilliard said. “Anytime my number is called, I can be the guy, so I have no doubt in my mind I can fill a more important role. It’s a competitive game, and that move they made opened an opportunity for me, and I’m going to take advantage of it.” (ClevelandBrowns.com)

FFToday's Take: Hilliard is in line to begin the season behind Chubb on the depth chart, should have opportunities as a pass-catching running back used mostly on third down plays, and get the occasional carry. Hilliard's value will take a hit once Kareem Hunt returns from an eight-game suspension, but for now he’s the primary backup and is worth a close look in deeper PPR leagues.
