2019 Outlook
Depth Chart
After a monster season in which he averaged 6.1 yards per rush and 10.1 per reception, negative regression was a popular narrative in the fantasy community for the impressive running back for the Saints. Continuing to post video game-like numbers is difficult to do, especially once defensive coordinators get a full season of fill to study.

Kamara's yard per carry average did go down to a more reasonable 4.6, and his yard per reception average fell nearly two full yards. But Kamara's volume jumped from 120 carrels as a rookie to 194 as a sophomore, and his rushing touchdown total nearly doubled.

With two full seasons of elite-level production, Kamara is securely entrenched atop the first round in all formats. In addition to finishing second only to Todd Gurley in rushing touchdowns, Kamara was one of only four running backs to finish with over 100 targets in the passing game.

The contract holdouts of Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon will push up the value of elite running backs like Kamara, Barkley, and McCaffrey even further, making Kamara an even more valuable asset and a true dual-threat stud.

News From The Past 90 Days
Injury Kamara limited, Jared Cook practices in full
Saints getting healthy after bye week
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 6, 6:00 pm

New Orleans
Saints RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle), TE Josh Hill (calf) and CB Patrick Robinson (hamstring) were all limited in Wednesday's practice. TE Jared Cook (ankle) and WR Tre'Quan Smith (ankle) practiced fully. (Mike Triplett on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Coming off their bye, the Saints are getting close to full strength. We're expecting Kamara and Cook to play this week but given Latavius Murray's workhorse role while Kamara was out, we could see more of a time share in Week 10 than Kamara owners would like. We'll have a better idea of Kamara's health after practice on Friday.

Injury Alvin Kamara not expected to play
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 26, 11:30 pm

New Orleans
Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara, listed as questionable for Sunday vs the Cardinals due to an ankle injury, will not play, per source. But Kamara is expected back after New Orleans’ bye week next week, when the team hosts Atlanta on Nov. 10, per sources. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: With Kamara out, Latavius Murray should soak up most of the running back touches for the Saints this week against the Cardinals. He's an easy RB1 in Week 8.

Injury Drew Brees expected to start
Thumb injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sat Oct 26, 3:14 pm

New Orleans
Barring an unforeseen setback, the #Saints plan for quarterback Drew Brees to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to sources. (Ed Werder on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Sounds like Brees will give it a go despite the Saints having a bye in Week 9. This is a good matchup against the Cardinals even with Patrick Peterson back in the secondary for Arizona. No word yet on the status of RB Alvin Kamara.

Injury Brees, Kamara limited Friday; gametime decisions
Both listed as questionable on injury report
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 25, 4:30 pm

New Orleans
Sean Payton declined to name the New Orleans Saints' starting quarterback after Friday's practice, saying he will "probably wait until Sunday." But Drew Brees and running back Alvin Kamara both appear to have a good chance of returning from injuries against the Arizona Cardinals after they practiced again on a limited basis Friday. (ESPN)

FFToday's Take: Both Brees and Kamara were listed as limited participants in practice on Thursday and Friday. The Saints have a bye in Week 9 which would give their two starts extra time to heal but it sounds like each have a 50-50 chance of playing. Latavius Murray would be a RB1 against the Cardinals if Kamara sits.

Injury Alvin Kamara gets some work in Thursday
Limited practice
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 24, 11:55 pm

New Orleans
Alvin Kamara (ankle, knee) back at Saints practice. No wrap, brace, tape, sleeve. Didn't get to see him do much during media viewing. (WWL - Steve Geller)

FFToday's Take: Kamara reportedly didn't do much during the session, but it suggests he has a chance to play in a favorable matchup this weekend versus the Cardinals. Assuming he is active and does nothing more than split snaps with Latavius Murray against Arizona, most owners should not hesitate to plug him into their lineups. At worst, he sits this one out and is completely ready to tear it up - now that Drew Brees is expected back - down the stretch.

Injury Alvin Kamara in danger of missing Week 7
Reportedly dealing with high-ankle sprain
By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 17, 7:50 pm

New Orleans
RB Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle) remained absent from Saints practice Thursday. (ESPN - Mike Triplett)

FFToday's Take: Kamara has been extremely durable since entering the league in 2017, so his potential absence this week will come as a shock to the system. With that said, it's probably not the worst thing for him to sit at least one game considering the matchup (Bears) and the fact Teddy Bridgewater's presence has greatly reduced the explosiveness of this offense. Considering the Saints figure to get Drew Brees back after the team's Week 9 bye, it's possible Kamara sits until then as well.

Injury Alvin Kamara expected to play
Ankle injury
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Oct 13, 7:00 am

New Orleans
RB Alvin Kamara tweaked his ankle this week and missed the last day of practice, but he is expected to play today barring a setback, sources say. He participated in the walk-through on Saturday and that was another sign he should be on the field today. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: Kamara should be good to for his matchup against the Jaguars in Week 6. He comes with a little more risk than usual but still projects to be an RB1.

Injury Alvin Kamara listed as Questionable
Tweaked his ankle Thursday, missed practice Friday
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 11, 4:15 pm

New Orleans
RB Alvin Kamara didn't practice today after tweaking an ankle. I'm told it's not a major injury and he sat out practice as a precaution, but that'll be one to watch. He's officially listed as questionable for Sunday against the #Jaguars. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: It sounds like Kamara will suit up but we'll know for sure when the Inactives come out on Sunday morning. Latavius Murray would see an increased workload if Kamara sits.

Injury Drew Brees out 6 weeks, torn ligament in thumb
Surgery required
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Sep 16, 10:30 am

New Orleans
Saints' QB Drew Brees is expected to undergo thumb surgery as early as today that would be expected to sideline him approximately 6 weeks, per leagues sources. If the Saints decide to put Drew Brees on IR for the thumb surgery that is required, he would be unable to practice for six weeks and would to miss eight games. Saints also could not place him on IR and bring him back when ready. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

FFToday's Take: We got a sense yesterday when the injury occurred that Brees was going to miss some time. He couldn't grip the football and left the game with a hard cast on his thumb. Teddy Bridgewater will take over as the starting quarterback while Brees is out. This is a downgrade for all the Saints skill players including Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and Jared Cook. Bridgewater checks in as a middling QB2.
