2024 Outlook
Depth Chart
In 2021, Kupp was the best receiver in the league, posting a 145-1947-16 line en route to winning NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors. In two seasons since, he has had trouble staying on the field, missing eight games in 2022 and opening last year on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury. He looked good upon his return, posting back-to-back 100-plus-yard efforts in his first two games, but his production slipped dramatically after that, failing to top 50 yards in six straight. When the credits rolled on 2023, Kupp settled for 59 catches, 737 yards, and 5 TDs, his worst production since 2018.

Now, just three years removed from his monster campaign, Kupp is a bit of an unknown. He's played in just 21 of 34 games the past two years, and his numbers combined over those two seasons falls short of what he did in 2021. Head coach Sean McVay recently noted that Kupp was never healthy last season, and that he looks to be in much better condition now. Whether he can stay in peak form at age 31 remains to be seen. A surefire WR1 in recent fantasy drafts, Kupp now resides on the borderline of top-20 status with a definite risk/reward status.

News From The Past 90 Days
Cooper Kupp headed to Seattle, three-year deal
Seahawks reshape their wide receiver room
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Mar 14, 6:27 pm

Seattle Seahawks
Homecoming: Former #Rams WR Cooper Kupp is signing with the NFC West rival #Seahawks, sources tell The Insiders. A Yakima native and Eastern Washington alum, Kupp now heads to Seattle, where he’ll get to face his old team twice this season. (Tom Pelissero on X)

FFToday's Take: Kupp (32) will be a big part of new look Seahawks team that will be missing Geno Smith, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Kupp should find himself in the starting lineup opposite Jaxon Smith-Njigba with Sam Darnold at quarterback. Kupp hasn't played a full season since 2021 and finished as the WR25 last season in half PPR scoring with the bulk of his production coming prior to Week 12.

Davante Adams headed to the LA Rams
Two-year deal, $26 million guaranteed
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Mar 9, 6:54 pm

Six-time Pro-Bowl WR Davante Adams is signing a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams, per source. Adams arrives at a time the Rams are preparing to move on from standout WR Cooper Kupp. (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: The Rams are expected to move on from Cooper Kupp (31) and in his place install a slightly older Adams (32) who finished as the WR13 last season in FPTs per game (half-ppr). It was rumored that Adams wanted to play with a west coast team, making the landing spot ideal. Give the status of Puka Nacua in the WR room, Adams could see a slight dip in production in 2025 but should hold WR value with the Rams.

Injury Deebo looking to move on from San Francisco
49ers granted Deebo permission to find a trade partner
By: Mike Krueger | Sun Feb 9, 11:37 am

San Francisco
The 49ers have granted Deebo Samuel and his agent Tory Dandy permission to find a trade partner for the wide receiver, Samuel told ESPN. This comes after Samuel asked San Francisco to trade him during the players’ exit meetings after the season. “It was a hard conversation to have with Kyle (Shanahan) because of the relationship that we have,” Samuel said today. “But I have to do what’s best. I’m more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, but now I think it’s best that we find another team.” (Adam Schefter on X)

FFToday's Take: Deebo has only topped 1000 yards receiving once in his career but has been involved enough in the rushing game to make him a borderline WR1/2 over the last few years. However, 2024 was a supreme disappointment, ranking 48th in fantasy points per game (half-ppr) with just 51 receptions and 4 TDs. Deebo joins Cooper Kupp as veteran wide receivers on the trade market.

Rams looking to trade Cooper Kupp
$20 million salary in 2025
By: Mike Krueger | Mon Feb 3, 7:13 pm

I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA. 2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys. (Cooper Kupp on X)

FFToday's Take: Cooper Kupp was drafted by the Rams in 2017 and it appears 2024 will be he last season with them. Kupp is currently due $20 million next season and roughly the same amount in 2026. The Rams were reportedly shopping Kupp during the trade deadline but never found a deal to their liking. Free agency kicks off next month.

Cooper Kupp confirms he will play in 2025
WR coming off third straight injury-plagued season
By: Doug Orth | Tue Jan 21, 11:30 pm

Cooper Kupp said Monday there is "no doubt" in his mind that he wants to play football next season and that while he "would love to be in L.A.," he has no control over what will happen this offseason. "I feel like I've got a lot of good football left in me," Kupp said in the Rams' final open locker room session of the season. "I'll be playing football next year. That much I know." Kupp has two years left on the contract extension he signed in 2022, with $5 million guaranteed in 2025. If the Rams cut Kupp this offseason, they will save $15 million in cash and $7.52 million against the salary cap. If the Rams release him without a post-June 1 designation, they will absorb $22.2 million in dead money due to the remaining prorated portions of his signing bonus and $5 million of his roster bonus. (ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop)

FFToday's Take: The aforementioned contract particulars suggest that if Kupp is cut, it will be as a post-June 1 designation. Another factor in the Rams' offseason decision-making with Kupp may be whether Matthew Stafford wants to keep playing. Either way, it appears Kupp is nearing the end of his time with the Rams, which likely means Los Angeles will begin prepping Jordan Whittington for a bigger role. If Kupp is cut this offseason, Whittington should be considered a major sleeper in 2025 drafts.
