The added emphasis on the running game and using backs as receiving threats certainly helped Williams greatly last season. Despite playing second fiddle to starter Aaron Jones, Williams racked up over 700 total yards and 6 touchdowns, numbers good enough to ensure fantasy roster value the entire season. And while he should hold on to No.2 duties at least to start to the year, 2nd rounder Dillion us sure to eventually eat into his rushing opportunities. Williams is a solid role player, but offers little upside as a playmaker, as his 4.3 yards-per-carry average last season was a career high. Bolstered by a surely to regress 5 receiving touchdowns in 2019, it's hard for me to envision a scenario where Jones and Dillon stay healthy, and Williams comes close to his numbers last season. Because the offseason is and will be tricky, experience will give WIlliams the leg up to start the season, but expect to see him on waivers in many leagues by mid-year.

Jamaal Williams listed as Doubtful for Sunday night Quad injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 25, 4:04 pm

| | #Packers list RB Jamaal Williams (thigh) is doubtful. S Will Redmond (concussion) and TE Jace Sternberger (concussion) are out. (Tom Silverstein on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Williams missed practice all week with a quad injury and will likely be on the Inactive list against the Titans. Expect to see AJ Dillon get some run in this game but more than anything, this improves the ceiling for Aaron Jones.

| Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel placed on COVID-19 list Both out for Week 9 By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 4, 7:33 pm

| | #49ers LT Trent Williams and WRs Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as close contacts, source says. They’re out for tomorrow vs #Packers. (Mike Garafolo on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: The Packers and 49ers game scheduled for Thursday night is going to feature a lot of backup players from both sides. The 49ers are down to Trent Taylor, Richie James and Kevin White at wide receiver. The Packers will be without running backs Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon.

| Aaron Jones listed as questionable Calf injury By: Mike Krueger | Wed Nov 4, 4:00 pm

| | Packers are listing RB Aaron Jones (calf) as questionable for Thursday night’s game vs. 49ers. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Jones was ruled out on Friday last week but it appears he will be a gametime decision Thursday night against the 49ers. With Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon out, Green Bay could be relying on Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin in Week 9.

| Jamaal Williams out for Thursday night Green Bay could use Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams at RB By: Mike Krueger | Tue Nov 3, 11:09 am

| | No new positives for the #Packers from Monday's COVID-19 testing, per source.
So as of now, three players won't play Thursday night against the #49ers: RB A.J. Dillon (positive), RB Jamaal Williams (high risk close-contact) and LB Kamal Martin (high-risk close contact). (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: Green Bay has not yet decided if Aaron Jones (calf) will be able to play. If he sits, we could see Tyler Ervin and Dexter Williams (practice squad) as the two main running backs used against the 49ers on Thursday night.

| Jamaal Williams at risk to miss Week 9 Close contact of AJ Dillon By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 2, 8:10 pm

| | RB Jamaal Williams is one of the players considered close contacts for RB AJ Dillon, who tested positive for COVID-19, source said. Both did not practice today and the league is determining if they are high-risk close contacts. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)
FFToday's Take: If Williams is determined to be a high-risk close contact of Dillon, he would be ineligible to play in Thursday's Week 9 game versus the 49ers. With Aaron Jones (calf) not having practiced for over a week, Williams in question and Dillon already ineligible, Green Bay could be forced to go with some combination of Dexter Williams and Tyler Ervin. If that's what it comes to for Green Bay, Ervin may be worthy of a flex start, but only in deeper leagues.

| Aaron Jones out for Week 8 Calf injury By: Mike Krueger | Fri Oct 30, 2:45 pm

| | #Packers RB Aaron Jones will miss his second straight game. Not a surprise with Jones unable to practice this week because of his calf strain. Add in a short-week, West Coast trip to SF next Thursday, and the decision seemed fairly easy. (Ryan Wood on Twitter)
FFToday's Take: It's another week of Jamaal Williams who handled the bulk of work for Green Bay last week on his way to a 19-77-1; 4-37 line. Williams is a high-end RB2, low-end RB in a matchup with the Vikings.

| Aaron Jones to miss another game? Packers RB misses third straight practice By: Doug Orth | Thu Oct 29, 11:50 pm

| | Sounds like it might be another week for RB Aaron Jones (calf). Coach Matt LaFleur said holding him out last week "definitely helped him but he's got to continue to improve and get better each day." LaFleur said they won't risk losing him long term so "we'll be smart with him." (ESPN - Rob Demovsky)
FFToday's Take: Even though Jones believed he was healthy enough to play last weekend, the Packers held him out. Two missed practices to begin this week suggests another missed game could be on the horizon. As fantasy owners saw with Davante Adams earlier this year, Green Bay's training staff is among the most conservative in the league when it comes to injuries. Jamaal Williams would be a solid RB2 with RB1 upside if Jones gets ruled out.
