| D'Andre Swift's role unlikely to change much in finale|
Handled six touches in Week 17 return
By: Doug Orth | Thu Jan 6, 2:45 pm
|Lions RB D'Andre Swift doesn't expect his role to change much this weekend. Adds he doesn't need shoulder surgery this offseason. (MLive - Benjamin Raven)|
FFToday's Take: While HC Dan Campbell led most to believe Swift would return to his usual role last week, Jamaal Williams (12-6) doubled him up in touches. Even Craig Reynolds nearly matched him with five. In other words, Swift appears unlikely to decide Week 18 championships or help DFS players very much. The bigger news here is that Swift doesn't need surgery. Despite showing a lack of durability through his first two NFL seasons, Swift figures to go in the first two rounds of most drafts next summer.
| D'Andre Swift expected back for Week 17|
By: Mike Krueger | Wed Dec 29, 12:08 pm
|Dan Campbell says D'Andre Swift should be good to go in Seattle. Says Swift still has room to improve and there's value in playing him the final two weeks. "We'll shut him down after Green Bay." (Kyle Meinke on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: Swift missed Week 16 with a shoulder injury after being limited in practice all week. It sounds like Campbell has no intention of resting Swift the remainder of the season even with Jamaal Williams and Craig Reynolds healthy. Swift will have RB2 upside the final two weeks of the season.
| T.J. Hockenson has thumb surgery, out for the season|
Expected to recover in time for the off-season program
By: Mike Krueger | Thu Dec 16, 1:13 pm
|Lions’ Pro Bowl TE T.J. Hockenson underwent thumb surgery this morning with the renowned hand-specialist Dr. Thomas Graham, and is expected to make a complete recovery in time for the off-season program, sources tell ESPN. But Hockenson’s 2021 is over. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The hits keep on coming for the Lions who missed D'Andre Swift, Jamaal Williams and Hockenson last week. The Lions used Brock Wright and Shane Zylstra at tight end in Week 14 against the Broncos and are expected to do the same this week against the Cardinals. Neither are fantasy options.
| T.J. Hockenson Doubtful, Jamaal Williams on Covid-19 list|
Lions void of skill players
By: Mike Krueger | Fri Dec 10, 4:08 pm
|RB Jamaal Williams & S Tracy Walker are being placed on COVID list. Lions already will be without TE T.J. Hockenson (DOUBTFUL) and RB D’Andre Swift (OUT) Sunday in Denver. (Tim Twentyman on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: The Lions are decimated at the skill positions and will be lucky to score 14 points against the Broncos on Sunday. Hockenson is dealing with a hand injury and didn't practice Thursday or Friday. Brock Wright is expected to start at tight end while Jermar Jefferson and Godwin Igwebuike should handle most of the running back work. None of these guys are recommended fantasy options.
| D'Andre Swift to miss two weeks?|
Shoulder sprain could sideline him until Week 15
By: Doug Orth | Thu Dec 2, 11:55 pm
|D'Andre Swift (shoulder) seems unlikely to play in Week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings and "feels like a longshot" for Week 14 versus the Denver Broncos, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. (NFL Network - Ian Rapoport)|
FFToday's Take: The good news is the Lions have yet to place him on IR, so a Week 15 return seems more than reasonable. The bad news is that avoiding a winless season is about the only incentive to bring him back. Jamaal Williams should have a clear path to 15-20 touches for at least this week and maybe even Week 14. Anything beyond that would be a bonus for his fantasy managers, but there is a small possibility the Lions look at their 0-13-1 record in Week 15 and decide not to expose Swift to any more punishment.
| D'Andre Swift unlikely to go in Week 13|
RB suffered shoulder strain on Thanksgiving
By: Doug Orth | Mon Nov 29, 8:25 pm
|Lions coach Dan Campbell says RB D’Andre Swift is still pretty sore. “It’s hard to say that you’d see him playing,” he said. (ESPN - Eric Woodyard)|
FFToday's Take: Although the extra three days he gets from playing on Thanksgiving will obviously help his chances of not missing a game, it seems like a longshot Swift will play against the Vikings in Week 13. And there is always the possibility that the winless Lions decided enough is enough and look toward the future as the season comes to a close. Jamaal Williams should be a more than serviceable RB2 option if Swift can't go in Week 13. Jermar Jefferson (ankle) would likely serve as the change-of-pace if such a scenario.
| Jamaal Williams is Inactive for Detroit|
Thigh, Illness for Williams

|Starting running back Jamaal Williams and slot cornerback AJ Parker are both INACTIVE for Detroit (Kyle Meinke on Twitter)|
FFToday's Take: It looks like it will be the D'Andre Swift show for the Lions today against the Eagles. Williams popped up on the Injury Report on Thursday with a thigh injury. Rookie Jermar Jefferson could see his first game action.
