Boom or bust has defined Mike Williams' NFL career, and now the former first-round draft pick heads to New York to play alongside future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Williams only played three games this past season but delivered spectacular performances during that short span, ranking as the WR10 in average fantasy points per game. Despite having played seven NFL seasons with talented quarterbacks like Philip Rivers and Justin Herbert, Williams has only reached 1,000 yards twice. While Rodgers may be the only future Hall of Famer among them, the 2024 version of Rodgers might be the least effective quarterback Williams has played significant snaps with.
Williams is known as a classic "better in best ball" player, given his unpredictable week-to-week performances and the frustration of managing his history of spike weeks followed by duds. Currently being selected outside the top 50 at his position in drafts, Williams' acquisition cost is low, making him a reasonable late-round pick as a WR5/6.

Trade: Davante Adams headed to the N.Y. Jets Raiders receive a conditional 3rd-round pick By: Mike Krueger | Tue Oct 15, 10:10 am
| | Compensation update: The trade for Davante Adams is expected to get finalized today, per sources.
It will be for a conditional 3rd-round pick that can go to a second-round pick, per source. (Adam Schefter on X)
FFToday's Take: Adams getting traded has been a likely scenario for the star wide receiver who's missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. Adams was reported to be interested in going to the Saints or Jets given his familiarity with both quarterbacks. This move is going to drag down the fantasy values of Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard who currently sits as the WR17 in half-PPR leagues. Mike Williams is completely off the fantasy radar. It remains to be seen if Adams will be ready to play in Week 7.
| Mike Williams getting closer to return WR in final stages of return from ACL tear By: Doug Orth | Mon Aug 19, 8:35 pm
| | WR Mike Williams told reporters he expects to join team drills next week, the last hurdle before he's cleared for Wk 1.
"I think I'm ready to do some team stuff, just getting in a rhythm, doing things with the team, just lining up and going through some plays." (ESPN.com - Rich Cimini)
FFToday's Take: Most fantasy managers know the story with Williams at this point. He will likely beat his current 12th-round ADP when he is in football shape, but his lack of durability will always be a concern. Especially considering Williams will not have the benefit of having gone through an entire training camp with Aaron Rodgers, managers should also expect him to start slow. With that said, Williams could consistently perform at a WR3/4 level if he can stay on the field in 2024.
| Mike Williams limited to individual work in camp ACL recovery By: Mike Krueger | Thu Aug 8, 12:25 pm
| | Robert Saleh says WR Mike Williams, activated yesterday from PUP, will do walkthroughs, individuals, etc, over the next couple of weeks and then team drills in the next few weeks. #Jets (Dennis Waszak Jr. on X)
FFToday's Take: Williams is running out of time to have a significant fantasy impact early in the season. He's recovering from an ACL injury that occurred last September. Once he gets on the field, he should immediately slot into the No.2 wide receiver option for the Jets who are weak at the position.
